Greensburg Central Catholic lineman Liam Halligan’s recruitment really had just begun. Earlier this summer he received his first D1 offer from Marshall, then something happened. Brown University captured his attention. Enough so that he’s quickly shut down his recruitment and committed to the Brown Bear Program. The 6-5, 295 pound interior lineman made his decision known via twitter:

We caught up with Liam to ask him about his decision:

PFN: Why did you choose to commit to Brown?
Liam: I went for an unofficial visit during the summer and I knew it was the place for me. I always dreamed of playing in the Ivy League.

PFN: Who was your biggest influence there. , who recruited you?
Liam: My biggest influence was Coach McCarthy who helped me through the process and was a great person to be around and talk to.

PFN: What are they getting in player like you?
Liam: They are getting someone who will never quit and will always bring the best, on and off the field.

PFN: What was the recruiting process like for you?
Liam: It was certainly hectic and sometimes a bit scary, but everything worked out perfectly!

PFN: What position were you recruited for?
Liam: Offensive Tackle

PFN: Do you know what you’d like to study?
Liam: I am interested in Computer Science at the moment but that could change.

PFN: What role did your parents play in your decision?
Liam: My parents and I always dreamed of having the opportunity to go to an Ivy League school and we knew as soon as they offered that it was the right place.

PFN: What do you think is the most exciting thing about the program?
Liam: They are ready to shock the rest of the Ivy League and the coaches are very committed to the process.

PFN: What are you most looking forward to while playing for them?
Liam: I am looking forward to playing my heart out at my dream school, plain and simple.

PFN: Tell everyone out there in the football world something they’d never know about you until you told them:
Liam: I’m a surprisingly good skier and love the sport!

PFN: Who is the person who most influenced you in your football career?
Liam: My father pushed me and molded me into the player and man I am today. He certainly influenced me.

PFN: What is it you’d like all your high school teammates and fans to know about your decision that you might have a hard time saying in person?
Liam: It was always my dream to play for an Ivy League school, no matter who offered!
