Shawn Reick scampers to four touchdowns in Keystone Oaks’ statement win over Wash High.
Last weekend, Keystone Oaks won on a controversial last second touchdown to jump McGuffey in the WPIAL 2A Century standings. The Golden Eagles we’re eager to move up again, welcoming in defending conference champions, the Washington Prexies.
The Eagles offense started hot out of the gate. After forcing the Prexies to a quick three and out, Shawn Reick added his first score of the night, bolting up the middle to paydirt from just outside of the redzone.

The Eagles immediately pressed repeat. Another three and out, another offensive drive that ended in Reick finding the endzone, this time from two yards out with about 2 minutes left in the 1st. Before the Prexies had even had a first down, the preemptive game favorites were down by two scores.

Fortunately for the Prexies, the offense came steadily. Aided by a Keystone Oaks botched screen that set them up with good field position, Logan Carlisle pushed his way to get the Prexies on the board early in the second quarter.

The Golden Eagles we’re quick to respond. Three minutes after the Prexies got on the board, Nick Buckley found Reick on a screen for a 15 yard TD. The Prexies were right back where they started, down by 14.

The Prexies once again found good fortune. Another botched screen for the Golden Eagles gave Wash High field position in the 40. Plays later, from 24 yards out, Zach Welsh put the Prexies within reach again.

The Golden Eagles received the second half kick, and Nick Buckley and Shawn Reick drove down the field. Reick put in his fourth on the doorstep of the goal line to put the game back at two scores.

On the ensuing drive, the Prexies struck back. On a busted coverage, the Prexies struck through the air with a 55 yard pass to Zxavian Willis. Almost like clockwork it was 28-21.
Keystone Oaks defense, hot and cold all night, finally made the play that was the straw that broke the camels back. On 4th and 4 at midfield, Anthony Stribling flew into the backfield and stopped Zach Welsh from converting. Nick Buckley dove into the endzone for 7 more on the ensuing drive, capping off the win.
What it means and Who’s Next?: With the win, the Golden Eagles move to second in the Century and have likely clinched a home playoff game, meaning their matchup with rival Brentwood next weekend will not affect their playoff standing, Washington will return home to host cross-town rival McGuffey for the 3 and 4 seeds out of the conference.
