The Upper Saint Clair Panthers defeated the Baldwin Fighting Highlanders 42-34 on Friday night.

To start the game Senior LB Keith Mincin had a key fourth down stop on USC running back Mason Chambers.

While driving down the field on a read option play, Baldwin would fumble the ball and Julian Dahlem would get the scoop and score.

Shortly after USC would have a quick drive resulting in a Chambers rushing touchdown.

That would end the first quarter, and then Senior Andrew Sharp would pick up a fumble and run it back 80-yards to the endzone.

The following offensive drives Baldwin would throw interceptions one being returned for a pick-six and another to Chambers second of three touchdowns.

The second half would open up and Dahlem would find the endzone to extend the Upper Saint Clair lead to 28.

Sharp would then force a fumble on the USC offense then would get the rushing touchdown the next offensive drive.

Come the fourth quarter, would score three touchdowns and continue to find some offensive rhythm, but it was not enough as the clock hit 0:00.

Despite the score, Baldwin outscored USC 24-14, but it was not enough for the Highlanders to comeback.

The Panthers advanced to 3-0 on the season and 1-0 in conference play and tied with Peters Township for first place in 5A Section 1. Baldwin will drop to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

USC will host Fox Chapel and Baldwin will play host to the defending 6A champions North Allegheny. Both games are set to kick off at 7 o’clock.
