Two of the WPIAL’s most historic football programs faced off in a Week 2 matchup at Wash High Stadium. The two schools have combined for a total of 18 WPIAL titles, with Clairton having 11, and Washington having 7.

Washington intercepted Clairton on its opening possession of the game. The Prexies offense started with the ball at just about midfield and scored just a few plays later on a Davoun Fuse touchdown run.

Fuse found the endzone once again on Wash High’s second drive. Following a strong offensive line from 4 yards out on a quarterback sneak, making it 14-0 Prexies. Fuse had 3 rushing touchdowns on the night.

Tayshawn Levy also had a great night for the Prexies with 2 touchdown runs of his own. The Prexies defense had the Bears locked down for much of the contest, allowing just one touchdown. Clairton’s Kameron Lewis took to kick returns back for scores that cut the lead down to 28-13 at one point. However, Wash High was able to hold on and secure its 3rd win on the season improving to 3-0 with a 43-19 victory.

Washington will open up its WPIAL AA Century Conference schedule next week on the road against Waynesburg Central.

Clairton, having not played a game in Week 0, will open up the season at 0-2. The Bears will take on the Leechburg Blue Devils who will come into Clairton at 3-0. This will be Clairton’s first section match of the 2021 campaign.
