Waynesburg Central defeats California in statement win

The California Trojans traveled to Waynesburg Central Highschool to take on the Raiders for week 3 of Greene County high school football.

After California threw an interception Waynesburg went down the field for a 6-yard touchdown run ran in by junior quarterback Jacob Stevenson.

Waynesburg scored again with a fifteen-yard touchdown pass caught by freshman Jack Ricciuti with 8 minutes left in the first quarter to make the score 14-0.

In the second quarter with one minute left, California scored with a forty-yard punt return by junior Lee Qualk.

At halftime Waynesburg Central led by a score of 14-7.

 

To start the 3rd quarter, Waynesburg Central’s quarter back junior Jacob Stevenson had a 60-yard pass touchdown to Jack Ricciuti to put Waynesburg up 20-7, racking up his third touchdown of the day.

With seven minutes left in the 3rd quarter Waynesburg continued to dominate with a seventy-one-yard touchdown run by senior Breydon Woods to put the Raiders up 27-7.

California quickly returned with a fumbled-punt-safety to make the score 27-9.

Waynesburg Central takes home the victory with a final score of 27-9.

The Raiders now move to (3-0) on the season, and the Trojans fall to (2-1). Waynesburg Central takes on Keystone Oaks next Friday at home, and California travels to Jefferson Morgan.

The final stats of this game ended with star Waynesburg Central quarterback Jacob Stevenson having one rushing touchdown and two passing touchdowns, totaling three on the day. The freshman Jack Ricciuti had 3 receptions for 108 yards with 2 touchdowns. Stevenson went 5 for 6 with 107 passing yards and 2 touchdowns and had 13 rushing attempts for 69 yards with a rushing touchdown.
