With offers from the like of Brigham Young, Central Michigan, Army, Fordham, Eastern Illinois and more, North Allegheny’s Nathan Hoke had a difficult decision to make, but having a brother play for one of those schools made that decision a little easier. Couple that with the fact that the Covid-19 situation prevented him from visiting more of the schools he was interested in and the decision was set. On Monday he announced on twitter he decided that Brigham Young was the place for him:

Here’s how that decision was reached:

PFN: How long have you played football?

Nathan: 11 years
PFN: Why did you choose to commit to the Cougars?

Nathan: I chose to commit to BYU because they have always been a school that I have liked for many years and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity of being able to play football with my brother.

PFN: Why commit early/commit to them?

Nathan: When I got the offer from BYU and talked it over with my family and realized i had to take advantage of the opportunity i was given.

PFN: Who was your biggest influence at Brigham Young, who recruited you?

Nathan: I was recruited by BYU’s linebackers coach and Defensive Coordinator and he was the most influential coach that recruited me.

PFN: What are they getting in player like you?

Nathan: They are getting a player that will not get outworked and will give it their all everyday.

PFN: What was the recruiting process like for you?

Nathan: It was a fun time to be able to be in contact with many coaches from many different colleges but at the same time it is a relief for it to be over and have that college that you are committed to.

PFN: How did the Covid 19 pandemic affect your decision?

Nathan: It affected my decision because I didn’t get the opportunity to see a lot of the colleges I wanted to see.

PFN: What position were you recruited for?

Nathan: I was recruited for any position along the front 7 they are waiting to see how I develop.

PFN: Do you know what you’d like to study?

Nathan: I would like to study business/financial.

PFN: What role did your parents play in your decision?

Nathan: They overall supported me and the decision that I wanted to make.

PFN: What do you think is the most exciting thing about the Brigham Youngprogram?

Nathan: The most exciting thing is the family atmosphere that is present there.

PFN: What are you most looking forward to while playing for the Cougars?

Nathan: I looking forward to the opportunity to play Division 1 football.

PFN: Tell everyone out there in the football world something they’d never know about you until you told them:

Nathan: I was born with two holes in my heart and had open heart surgery when I was five.

PFN: Who is the person who most influenced you in your football career?

Nathan: My dad was the most influential person in my career.

PFN: What is it you’d like all your high school teammates and fans to know about your decision that you might have a hard time saying in person?

Nathan: I would like them to know that I am thankful for everything they have done to help me in football and in life.
