Game sealing int by Jamison Lewis

For the second time in a week, Jerry Haslett’s Allderdice Dragons tangled with Lou Berry’s University side and for the second time in a week, we had an instant classic at Cupples Stadium.

In a game that almost mirrored last week’s contest, the teams both fought to establish the run game and control the line of scrimmage, with neither side able to assert itself. The defensive units matched the offenses punch for punch the entire game.

After a scoreless first quarter, University downed a punt at the 1 yard line and then took advantage on the next play—A bad snap led to a fumble and Xair Stevenson pounced on the ball for a touchdown. The conversion failed and it was 6-0 with 9:33 to go in the half.

Allderdice drove the field on their next drive and took the lead following a Terell James rushing TD and PAT by freshman kicker Heath Campbell, making it 7-6 ‘Dice just 23 seconds later.

The score stood that way at the half and ‘Dice landed the knockout punch with 6:52 to go in the game as James exploded for a 35 yard touchdown run. Campbell’s PAT made it 14-6, which set the final .

Allderdice advances to the City League final, where it will defend its title against the winner of the Westinghouse-Perry game, which takes place Oct 22 at 7PM. That contest will air on WAMO 107.3 in Pittsburgh and online via the WAMO website. PAFN Reporter\Three Rivers Broadcasting Owner Alex Fydryszewski, Brashear Coach Andrew Moore and  Rob Taylor will have all the action. Alex will provide updates via his Twitter as well @fydsports.
