Clearfield Bison’s stun the Penns Valley Rams in a 53-7 victory

The Penns Valley Rams traveled to Clearfield to play the Bison’s in week three of the football season. Clearfield is always a tough opponent on the Rams schedule and tonight proved that to be a very true statement. The Bison’s committed two early turnovers and fell behind 7-6, but Oliver Billotte led the Bison’s to a 53-7 win, stampeding their way to over 400 yards on the ground.

Penns Valley won the coin toss, deferring to the second half. Clearfield received the ball on their own 39 yard line. Mixing it up with their running and passing game, Clearfield moved the ball down the field score Quarterback keeper by Oliver Billotte, extra point was no good by Luke Sidorick. With 7:52 to go in the 1st quarter, the score was Clearfield 6 Penns Valley 0.

Penns Valley went 3 and out on thier first series, punting the ball away. On Clearfield’s next possession, Oliver Billotte threw an interception to Miles Brooks, who took it in for a Penns Valley touchdown, point after by Jackson Romig was good, with 4:36 remaining in the 1st quarter it was Penns Valley 7, Clearfield 6.

Clearfield fumbled the ball away on their next possession, recovered by Rylee Brungart. Penns valley was unable to move the ball, turning it over on downs. Clearfield took the ball and marched down the field with Oliver Billotte scoring on a 5 yard scamper. Two point conversion was no good with the score Clearfield 12, Penns valley 7. The 1st quarter would end with that score.

Penns Valley couldn’t get it going on their next series, punted the ball away. The kick went off the side of the foot of punter Jackson Romig, giving Clearfield excellent field position on the Penns Valley 31 yard line. Putting together a few pass plays, Clearfield’s Mark McMonigle raced in from 6 yards out for a touchdown, this time the two point conversion was good and with 7:44 remaining in the 2nd quarter, Clearfield 20, Penns Valley 7.

The Rams once again unable to put plays together to mve the ball, punted away. Clearfield would score on their next drive, Oliver Billotte running in from 1 yard out and with 3:32 left in the 2nd quarter, Clearfield 26, Penns valley 7. Clearfield would intercept a pass on Penns Valley’s next possession, with Clearfield running the clock out, ending the first half. Penns Valley was struggling to move the ball the first half, against a tough Clearfield defense.

The second half didn’t get any better for the Rams. After going three and out to start the third, Clearfield moved the ball once again down the field with Jose Alban scoring from 1 yard out to give Clearfield a commanding lead in this game. Penns Valley moved the ball on their next series, but came up short, turning the ball over on downs. Clearfield kept the momentum up moving the ball down the field, witha series of run and pass plays, with Mark McMonigle scoring on a 2 yard run, extra point was good with Clearfield now leading 39-7.  Clearfield would score once again on a 1 yard run by Carter Chamberlain, extra point by Luke Sidrock was good, with 7:19 in the 4th quarter it was Clearfield 46, Penns Valley 7. A 40 yard run from scrimmage by Nick Collins, closed out the scoring.

It was a tough night for the Rams against a strong Clearfield offense and defense. Penns Valley will be at home next week against Philipsburg, while Clearfield travels to Tyrone.
