Father Judge takes down Archbishop Ryan in a week 1 thriller that ended in a 16-13 win for the Crusaders. Other than an early touchdown scored by the Raiders, most of the game was a defensive battle between both teams, only allowing field goals until late in the 4th quarter, Ryan would get a huge rushing touchdown to take a 13-6 lead. Judge would get the ball back but would be abruptly stopped by the Raider defense, who looked to secure a Ryan win, but that would soon not be the case. The Raider offense would come onto the field with just over a minute left, only needing to a run a play or two before being able to knee down the clock, but one rush would be all the Crusaders needed, as a fumble recovery in Judges zone would lead to the Crusaders taking it down to the one yard line before punching the ball in to the tie the next right after.
Going into overtime Ryan would possess the ball first, where they would look to win the game two plays in, but was called back as a dropped pass, eventually leading to the Raiders having to attempt a field goal, but Father Judge would get a huge block to put themselves in the drivers seat to win this game. The Crusaders run a few plays before taking a field goal attempt on third down, where they successfully put it through the uprights, and bring home what looked like an impossible victory. Father Judge starts the season 1-0 and looks to take on Lansdale Catholic next Saturday on the road.
