On Friday and Saturday, five games were played at New Era Field in Orchard Park to determine the Section 6 Champions. An annual occurrence, the home of the Buffalo Bills is a great venue and great host for the high school games.

Class B – Maritime/Health Sciences v. Albion

A — 0 – 6 – 8 – 6 — 20
M — 12 – 8 – 6 – 8 — 34

Class AA – Orchard Park v. Lancaster

LAN — 0 – 0 – 14 – 9 — 23
OP — 3 – 0 – 7 – 7 — 17

In a thrilling finish for the Class AA final, Lancaster tied it late with a field goal, only for Orchard Park to turn it over deep in their territory. Lancaster converted it into a touchdown and held on to win.

Class D – Franklinville/Ellicottville v. Clymer/Sherman/Panama

FE — 0 – 0 – 0 – 0 — 0
CSP — 6 – 0 – 8 – 8 — 22

Two long TD passes and a short run was all the CSP Wolfpack needed to secure their second straight Section 6 Championship. One play, a toss, spin, and long bomb was good enough for Sportscenter’s Top Ten. The Wolfpack will play Batavia Notre Dame in the Far West Regional.

Class A – South Park v. Buffalo McKinley

McK — 0 – 0 – 0 – 0 — 0
SP — 22 – 16 – 0 – 0 — 38

Class C – Southwestern v. Wilson

W — 7 – 7 – 7 – 0 — 21
S — 7 – 7 – 20 – 19 — 53

After a first half struggle by the vaunted Trojans, the Southwestern squad dominated the second half and easily pulled away at the end from the Wilson Lakemen. #19 Tywon Wright had a stellar game at running back.
