My nightcap game took me from Hamilton Ross high school to Mechanicsburg to watched the home town Indians host the Paint Valley Bearcats in A Ohio High School Playoff game. I arrived at the stadium knowing how good the Bearcats are and only hearing how powerful the Indians were. When I left the stadium I said to the Paint Valley head coach as we walked up the hill Dag they were good, really good.

Things started out poorly for the Bearcats and quickly got worse. Danny Mascadri made A nice play to pick off Bearcats quarterback Cavan Cooper. Cooper, who had had all day to throw the ball going into this one had no time because the defensive line from the Indians dominated the game from start to finish.
Aaron Conley would hit Jake Hurst for A 47-yard gain all the way down to the Bearcats 14-yard line, Hurst by the time all was said and done looked like an all Pro-NFL player playing against A bunch of solid high school players. Gabe Chandler put the Indians up 7-0 with A 6-yard touchdown run. Mascadri added the P.A.T.

With 2:48 left in the first quarter, Cooper used A nice Walter Eugene “Chuck” Foreman like stiff arm to convert A 4th and three. Later in the drive facing fourth and eight Cooper threw A nice pass to the wide-open Cole Miller, who dropped the ball. Miller, who is usually sure-handed would go on to have one of those games you never want to remember but one you can learn so much from.

The Indians used a pass to the backside that resulted in Chayse Propst picking up 26-yards. eleven seconds later A screen pass to Hurst went for A 35-yard touchdown to make this A 14-0 game.  Just 1:21 seconds later the Indians offense was back at it with Keith Bebout taking advantage of A slip by Miller that allowed the catch to be very easy and the gain to be 58-yards. This became A 21-0 game when Propst got the right corner and easily scored from 22-yards out.

The Bearcats showed A little life when Dax Estep hit Cordell Grubb on A middle screen that took the ball all the way down to the Indians 25-yard line.  However, the Indians refused to bend anymore and quickly got their potent offense the ball back.  Hurst would act like Eddie George as he broke two tackles on his way to the 82-yard touchdown run making this A 28-0 game.

Cooper would throw A little middle screen to Grubb, who was surrounded by five Indians but still found a way to not only catch the pass but pick up 15-yards on the play.  Cooper then acted like Cornelius Greene A former Ohio State Buckeye quarterback with A 30-yard touchdown run. Estep booted the P.A.T. through making this A 28-7 game with 31.9 seconds left in the half. The Indians did not need that long to score again because Conley threw A screen pass to Hurst and all he did was break A tackle on his way to pay dirt and there were still 3.2 seconds left in the half and the score was 35-7.

Conley showed his smarts when he picked up 14-yards then slid down before any Bearcat defensive player could touch him. Conley then connected with Hayden Delong for A gain of 12-yards. Using A gigantic hold opened up by his dominating offensive line Propst walked in from 35-yards out making this A 42-7 game with 6:55 left in the third.

The Indians went on the warpath two more times with the first score coming on A 50-yard pass to Bebout who blew by Miller to make this A 49-7 game. The last score of the game came with 53.6 seconds left in the third with Bebout getting A 50-yard pick-six off of A Estep pass.

The fourth quarter saw little offense with the running clock and a lot of the younger guys getting some playing time. For the Indians they move on to play at Adena, the only other team to beat the Bearcats this season. Paint Valley could pick up Philo next week but that has not been confirmed as of this time.
