Last night I finally made it to Edmundson Stadium home of the Stebbins Indians to catch one of their home against a very athletic West Carrollton team. The home crowd filled nearly 95% of their seats, while the Pirates crowd I am estimating was close to 65% full. Both sides got very loud at times, it’s so nice to have fans back at the game especially those who are there to actually watch it and get into it.

The Indians would get a nice catch from Shawn Dozier to get things started. Then there was a 21-yard run by the talented Omar Holloway that set first and goal from the 1-yard line, from there Holloway used the work of the big fellows up front to waltz into the end zone. Dozier used his strong foot to make this a 7-0 game with 9:34 left on the clock.

West Carrollton tried to respond to the score things started off well when Antonio Robinson

picked up 26-yards on a nice run after the catch on a ball thrown by Logan Cloyd. Jake Wheelock ended any hopes of the drive doing any more damage as he picked up a quarterback sack that resulted in a 6-yard loss for the Pirates.

Nate Keller looked very good with a 40-yard completions to Adrian Norton but a pass later he would not look as good when Berry picked off a pass in the end zone to save a touchdown, with 5:27 left in the first quarter. On the ensuing drive, Dalton King would get the Pirates ball carrier for a 5-yard loss to help shut down the drive. Keller would go back to looking good again with a 15-yard completion to Dozier that set up a 2-yard touchdown run from Holloway, after the point after kick we had a 14-0 game, with 1:18 showing on the clock.

Logan Cloyd picked up close to 35-yards on a nice pass play for the Pirates. The quarter came to a close when Caydon Caudill recorded a sack that cost the Pirates 11-yards. The drive continued in the 2nd quarter with the Pirates working the ball down to the Indians 26-yard line where Tyrone Darby exploded up the guy of the Indians defense for the score. He also converted the two-point conversion by running to the end zone once again making this a 14-8 game, with 9:29 showing on the clock.

The Indians offense would slowly work the ball to the Pirates 2-yard line taking nine plays to do so, on fourth and two from the two Holloway once again used the work from his offensive line to skirt into the endzone to increase the lead to 21-8. The last big play of the half came on a 37-yard run from Darby.

Cedric Anthony would make a nice catch and run for the Pirates but after being hit by Rayvonn Harris he coughed the ball up and springing on it like a hungry alley cat was Dakota Faulkner just twenty-five seconds into the third quarter. Keller would end the ensuing drive by sprinting in from 6-yards out to give us a 27-8 score, with 8:59 showing on the clock.

Stebbins would get a fine throw from Keller to #7 Caleb Gibbs, who is listed at 5-5 130 pounds. Harris would make a catch gaining 17-yards thanks to some nice work by the offensive line as they protected Keller. Keller would take the ball 16-yards to the Pirates 1-yard line, then take it the final yard for the score to make this a 34-8 game with a little over four minutes left in the quarter. The last big play of the quarter came when Robinson made a nice catch and somehow managed to hold onto the ball after being hit like Jack Tatum by Kane Howell.

The Indians would score one more time in this one with Dalton King taking in a Keller pass from 7-yards out to make this a 41-8 game. The rest of the quarter flew by with the running clock rule being put into play.
