Last night I traveled to Tipp City, Ohio to catch the Thursday night contest between Xenia and Tippecanoe. The Xenia Buccaneers entered this one 3-1, while the Red Devils entered 4-1. The Red Devils have been hot the last four weeks winning four straight games as they have bounced back after dropping their opening game of the season. For the Buccaneers, they were able to rebound last week with a slim seven-point win against a one-win Greenville team, after losing 35-6 to unbeaten Piqua the week before.

Ethan Biggs would lay a Joey Bosa like hit on the Buccaneers Austin Penewit to set the tone for the Red Devils defense in this one. Shortly after a bad snap forced the Buccaneers punter Jamell Smith to race back in the endzone where he was tackled for a safety by Lukas Walker to give the home team a 2-0 lead that they would never relinquish.

After Cayd Everhart easily converted a fourth and two in a large part due to the nice work from his offensive line. From there #1 Jason Rindler used all of his 6-3 frame to make a 23-yard touchdown catch then he ran in a two-point conversion try making this a 10-0 game, with 7:45 left in the quarter.

On the first play of the Bucs next drive Ethan Royse pluck the ball away from Austin Penewit and the Red Devils came up with the ball. It looked like Josh Dietz made the recovery. On the ensuing drive, Rindler took in a pass from Liam Poronsky for forty yards. Jamell Smith would get Zach Butera for a four-yard loss to help end the drive a short time later. Xenia would make one last big play before the quarter ended and that too came from their defense when Tremell Wright picked off Poronsky.

Poronsky would shake off the pick with 8:54 left in the half when he found Cayd Everhart for a gain of thirty-four yards. From there Everhart would score from four yards out. But on the two-point conversion try Trenton Lee picked off the conversion pass to keep this a 16-0 game.

Gavin Garlitz would make a fourteen-yard catch to convert a fourth and five, with 3:45 left in the half. After Smith plastered Griffin Caldwell for a loss of three Zach Butera caught a touchdown pass to make this a 23-0 game, after the point after kick by Jackson Kleather was good.

Xenia would get back-to-back catches from Wright that gave the Bucs a first and goal at the four but

the drive ended on fourth down when Trent Smith was stopped by Lawson Cook, with 6.7 seconds left in the half.

The Red Devils would get one final touchdown and that came when Rindler hauled in a 21-yard touchdown catch. Kleather hit the point after to give us our 30- final. The last score came with 9:29 left in the third with that score the running clock rule was put into play causing the rest of the game the fly by. Before things ended Jaxen Lewis would record a sack showing that there was not quit with the defense.
