Last night my four-game week came to an end with my 2nd ever trip to Vincent, Ohio to watch the home team Warren Warriors face Williamstown Yellowjackets, a team I was seeing for the first time. The stadium has been upgraded and I must say if you are in the area this is a place you need to take in a game. Before getting into the evening’s festivities I have to give props to the guys in the press box for the great hospitality. From supplying myself with rosters from both schools to the Donatos Pizza, diet coke, stats, and the brief history on the updates, the updates to come, and for letting me know that the Warriors were playing without several players because of covid related issues.

Trent Taylor would find Jason Williams for a big 24-yard gain to get things started off on the right foot for the Warriors. A short time later Taylor would hook up with Brodie Tait for a 15-yard gain. The second bad snap on the night would cause Taylor to be sacked by Maxwell Molessa for a loss of 12-yards. Bad snaps and muffs by Taylor would be a large pain in the side of the Warriors offense all night long.

The Warriors defense would pick up the offense on the Yellowjackets ensuing drive with a fumble recovery by Jason Williams. Trevor Oates was the back who put the ball on the ground but he would redeem himself before the night was over. ( 14 carries, 110 yards 1 TD).

Taylor would throw a beautiful ball to Jason Willians for a 53-yard touchdown making this a 6-0 game with 4;08 left in the quarter. The touchdown came one play after the fumble recovery. Taylor and Williams are both young Sophomores, who I believe will blossom into huge players for this young Warriors team.

Molessa, who is a very talented two-way player for Williamstown would hit Louis Goodnow for a 44-yard gain to get things going for the road team. Rickie Allen would float like Ali to pick up 17-yards, then he used to nasty work from his offensive line to ease in from a yard out to lock this one up. Isaac Joy would make this a 7-6 game giving the Yellowjackets the lead that would only grow from here.

Just fifteen seconds into the second quarter Taylor was sacked by Harbor Haught for a loss of five. Defense would be the focus for a bit in the quarter where we would see Taylor would be picked off by Colton Hesson to close out another nice defensive series for the Williamstown unit. Molessa would use his feet to pick up 19-yards, then it was a 21-yard run from Ethan Holbert. The drive ended with Molessa running into the endzone after some more nasty work from the offensive line to make this a 14-6 game after Joy hit his kick.

The Yellowjackets led by Kent Wigal got to Taylor for another sack, this one totaled 5-yards to end any hopes of the Warriors getting anything going. After getting the ball back Oates took off on a 28-yard run to set up another Yellowjackets touchdown That Molessa took care of with another run. Molessa would run the ball 22 times, for 152 yards, and 3 scores when all was said and done. Joy would make his point-after kick to make this a 21-6 game, which also would be the halftime score.

In the third quarter Allen Ricky (8 Carries,55 yards, and 1 TD) would pick up 13-yards with the aid of the big boys up front getting the job done. Molessa would pick up 21-yards taking the ball to the Warriors 6-yard line. Rickie Allen had the ball knocked out of his hands and saving the touchdown with the fumble recovery for the Warriors was J.T.Rice. Another bad snap caused Wigal and company would sack Taylor, who fumbled the ball but he recovered it himself saving any more damage from happening on the disastrous play.

The game would give us two more scores both from the Yellowjackets. The first came late in the third came on a 21-yard Molessa run, and the final one came in the final frame from a 3-yard run from Rickie Allen.

The Yellowjackets outgained the Warriors 415-169
