After seeing one amazing stadium on Friday, another one on Saturday seemed a tough claim to make. Though, Fighting Eagles Stadium in Black Hawk, Colorado may just be worthy to be put upon a pedestal with Monument Valley’s field.

And on a pedestal would be appropriate. At 8,954′ elevation, it’s one of the highest elevation fields in the nation. About an hour west of Denver in the mountains near the front range of the Rockies, the school and field sit a few miles northeast of Black Hawk. A mountain, mining town turned to tourism in one of the smallest geographic counties in the Centennial State.

On Saturday, Vail Christian paid Gilpin County a visit. They, too, reside in the Rocky Mountains just west of Gilpin County and both play 8-man football. Gilpin County staged a valiant effort to keep pace, but the visiting Saints of Vail Christian were too much. Running away with a 48-15 victory.
