This game started with Kensington looking like we’re going to run away with the victory. Their rushing attack led by a dominant offensive line controlled the first quarter and their defensive line stifled the Kipp rushing attack. Kensington scored their first touchdown of the afternoon with a 5 yard rushing score from Quran Creighton with 3:13 left in the first quarter to take a 6-0 lead. The ensuing possession Kipp would turn the ball over on downs in their own territory giving Kensington the ball back at the Kipp 48 yard line and the Lions took advantage of the short field with a 48 yard touchdown run for a score to extend the lead to 12-0 to end the first quarter. In the second quarter Kipp found their footing behind a 30 yard completion from Josiah Washington to tight end Desean Simpson to get into the red zone inside the 10 yard line. Kipp followed up with a 12 yard touchdown reception from Elijah Watson to cut the lead to 12-8 with 9:35 remaining in the first half. Kipp with the ball deep into their own territory made a costly mistake with an intentional grounding call that lead to a backward pass and resulting in a safety with just over a minute left in the first half to extend the lead to 14-8 at the half.

Midway through the 3rd quarter Kipp started gaining traction offensively driving into Kensington territory with QB Kyseem Page capping the drive off with a rushing score to tie the score at 14-14 with 3:18 left in the 3rd quarter. With just over 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter with the score tied at 14 and the ball on their own 14 yard line Kensington opted to go for a fake punt on 4th down and failed to convert giving Kipp a short field where Kyseen would make them pay with his second rushing score to give the Lions their first lead of the day at 22-14 with 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter. A last chance for Kensington failed as they threw an interception with just over a minute left in regulation to give the Lions the win.
