Kiski School Kicks Off Season With Rout of the Hill School
September 4th 2026
The Kiski School Cougars (Saltsburg, PA) kicked off their season Friday night in Pottstown, PA facing off against The Hill School Rams. Hill had taken the wins the previous two seasons, winning by narrow margins in both 2024 and 2025.
Kiski left no doubt in this one with a 44-7 thrashing of the Rams Friday night.
The story of the game was Kiski’s swarming defense, which dominated the line of scrimmage and forced Hill QB Jack Kenneff to scramble much of the night. The hard hitting Cougars prevented Hill from getting any traction at the line of scrimmage.
First Half
Kiski received the opening kickoff but had to punt. One the first Hill play, DT Ryan Chambers Jr (Vandergrift, PA) broke through two Hill blockers to force a fumble, which was covered by LB Ryan Crete (Ottawa, Canada). Starting on the Hill 39, QB Joe Felitsky (Cranberry, PA) and RB Mason Jones (Lower Burrell, PA) engineered an efficient drive capped by a 1-yard Jones TD run. Kiski missed the PAT, but was up 6-0. Hill would benefit from numerous Kiski defensive penalties to move the ball to the Kiski 10 yard line, but the drive stalled on 4th and goal with a pass breakup in the end zone by CB Curty Wade (Rostraver, PA).
The teams would trade possessions through the first quarter and into the second until the Cougars benefitted from a 28-yard punt return from Resendo Holdrege (Saone, France) to the Hill 14 yard line. Jones would run it three straight times to punch in his second TD of the game. Kicker Will LeComte (New Brunswick, Canada) would add the PAT to put Kiski up 13-0. Kiski’s defense would force another fumble recovered by CB Logan Graham (Sayreville, NJ). Felitsky would hit WR DeWayne Johnson Jr. (Pittsburgh, PA) for a 47-37-yard touchdown pass. The LeComte PAT would put Kiski up 20-0. Kiski’s defense would control the game, limiting Hill to one three-and-out possession. Kiski would drive the ball to the Hill 10 yard line on a combination of Felitsky runs and two pass completions to WR Omari Shirriell (Pittsburgh, PA). Kiski would settle for a LeComte field goal to go into the half up 23-0.
Second Half
Hill would come out and engineer a strong drive aided by Kiski encroachment and pass interference calls. Hill would finally find the end zone when Kenneff threw a 9-yard TD pass to WR Rohan Tyagi. The PAT would be good to make the Score 23-7 Kiski.
Hill would try an onside kick on the ensuing kickoff, but Ryan Chambers alertly covered the ball, giving Kiski excellent field position at midfield. Kiski would go three-and-out, but then Holdrege would force a Hill fumble recovered by Safety Patrick Maignan (Wayne, NJ). Kiski would efficiently move the ball on several Felitsky completions, and the drive was capped by a Felitsky TD pass to WR Greyson Daugherty (Ligonier, PA). The PAT would extend Kiski’s lead to 30-7.
The Cougars would shut Hill down the rest of the way on two Interceptions by Wade. Kiski would add two more rushing TDs on 6- and 44-yard runs by Maignan. Both PATs were converted to close out the scoring. Final score Kiski 44, Hill 7.
Kiski’s defense was led by sophomore DT Ryan Chambers (Vandergrift, PA) who lived in Hill’s backfield all evening. Local Cougars who contributed to a stellar defensive effort included Senior captain James Harrison III (Mars, PA), Levi Porter (Indiana, PA) and CB Curty Wade (Belle Vernon, PA). Wade pulled down 2 interceptions for the Cougars. On offense, Kiski was led by Senior QB Joe Felitsky (Cranberry Twp), who threw for 170 yards on only 11 completions. Receivers Greyson Daugherty (Ligonier, 2 catches 1 TD), DeWayne Johnson Jr (Pittsburgh PA, 72 yards, 1 TD) and Omari Shirriel (Pittsburgh, PA, 30 yards) hauled in the bulk of Felitsky’s passes. Mason Jones (Lower Burrell, PA) ran for 65 yards on 14 carries and scored 2 TDs, and Patrick Maignan (Wayne, NJ) contributed 100 yards rushing and 2 TDs on only 7 carries.
Kiski is 1-0 and goes on the road next Saturday to face the Saint James School in Hagerstown, MD. Hill falls to 0-1 and will host Calvert Hall College HS next Friday.
