Kiski Cougars Cap Perfect Season with Victory Over Linsly in West Virginia
October 31st 2026
The Kiski School Cougars visited rival The Linsly School Cadets in Wheeling, WV on Saturday afternoon. Kiski came into the contest with an 8-0 record, having won its last 14 football games, while the Cadets entered with a 3-4 record. Each of the last two contests between these teams were very narrow margins in favor of Kiski.
The Cougars would put an emphatic stamp on the season with a dominant 45-8 victory. Kiski scored on 7 of its first 9 possessions in the game, and the defense stifled Linsly’s offense throughout the afternoon. Record setting QB Joe Felitsky threw 4 TD passes in his final high school game, and do-everything Appalachian State commit LB Levi Porter intercepted two passes in his final game in a Kiski uniform. Kiski improved its consecutive wins streak to 15 games.
First Half
Kiski would kick off and force a Linsly punt on the opening possession of the game. Starting at their own 24, the Cougars methodically drove the ball into the red zone on two long pass completions from Felitsky to WR Curty Wade (24 and 34 yards). Felitsky finished the drive with an 8-yard TD completion to WR Omari Shirriel. Kicker William LeComte added the PAT to quickly put Kiski up 7-0. The Cougars would again stop Linsly on a TFL by DT Ryan Chamber Jr, forcing a second punt. Beginning at their own 36 yard line, Kiski drove the field on a nice mix of Felitsky pass completions and Mason Jones runs. Felitsky would again find Shirriel across the middle for a 13-yard TD. The PAT increased Kiski’s lead to 14-0.
Linsly’s next possession would carry into the second quarter, but the result was another 3 and out and punt. Kiski would move the ball aided by a Linsly personal foul to the Linsly 26, and Felitsky would throw his third TD pass of the game, this time hitting WR Noa Seyi Onobiono for a 26-yard catch and TD (PAT good) to put the Cougars up 21-0. Linsly would pick up its first 1st down of the game, but Levi Porter would intercept a pass to set Kiski up at the Linsly 48 yard line. Ryan Crete would carry three times to drive Kiski to the Linsly 16 yard line, however the drive would stall and the Cougars would settle for a 33-yard LeComte field goal to extend the lead to 24-0. Porter would intercept another pass on the next Linsly drive and return it 30 yards to the Linsly 15. Three straight Mason Jones runs produced another TD, putting Kiski up 31-0 at the half.
Second Half
Linsly would get some life in the 3rd quarter when it successfully executed and recovered an onside kick at Kiski’s 38. QB RJ Zitzelsberger would complete several passes to drive the Cadets to the Kiski 5, where he would connect with RB George Mamakos for a 5-yard TD catch. Linsly would then convert a successful 2-point try WR Chris Upton to cut the Cougars’ lead to 31-8.
Curty Wade would provide Kiski with good field position after a kick return to the 46 yard line. Four Jones runs and two passes from Felitsky to Seyi would drive the Cougars to Linsly’s 2-yard line. Jones would punch it in again from 2 yards out, and a LeComte PAT pushed the tally to 38-8. Another forced three-and-out by Kiski’s defense would give the Cougars the ball at their own 39 yard line. Felitsky would run and complete passes to Greyson Daugherty and DeWayne Johnson to drive the Cougars to the Linsly 22 at the end of the 3rd quarter. On the opening play of the 4th quarter, Felitsky would throw his fourth TD of the day when he found Daugherty for a 22-yard score. The final LeComte PAT of the day increased Kiski’s lead to 45-8. The defense would make the score hold, and Kiski would take the win to complete a perfect season.
The 9-0 Cougars have now won 15 straight games and 21 of their last 23 contests dating back to 2024. Kiski has now won three straight games against Linsly. Head Coach Aaron Smetanka is now 16-2 (0.889) in his first two seasons at Kiski. The Cougars scored 340 points (37.8 ppg) and allowed 49 points (5.4 ppg) on the season.
Linsly falls to 3-5 and will finish its season next Saturday when it travels to Kingston, PA to play the Wyoming Seminary Blue Knights.
