Lisbon and Penn-Trafford cruise to a victory against rival Norwin

The weather was clear skies and warm for the week 0 matchup between cross-town rivals Penn-Trafford and Norwin. It did not take long for the Warriors to reach the new yellow end zones at Warrior Stadium. Senior quarterback, Gabe Dunlap ran the ball in from 5 yards out to put the Warriors up 7-0 a minute and thirty-six seconds into the game. The Warriors ́ defense picked up right where they left off late last season by holding Norwin to punts on the Knights ́ first two offensive drives. Caleb Lisbon, senior running back for the Warriors, was no’t shy when showing his speed when he out ran Norwin’s defense for a 68 yard touchdown. Norwin ́s offense led by senior quarterback, and Western Michigan commit, Jack Salopek recovered and was able to score on a 10 yard run by Salopek to make it 14-7.
Penn-Trafford started the second quarter with an 81 yard touchdown run by Lisbon. Unfortunately, the play was called back by a holding call. However, Lisbon turned around and scored a 38 yard touchdown on a pass from Dunlap, after the point after attempt was missed the Warriors went up 20-7. The Warriors defense would continue to hold Norwin ́s offense from scoring while Penn-Trafford ́s offense scored one more time in the first half to make it 27-7 going into halftime.
In the second half, the Warriors only needed three plays to start a running clock. The first one play was when Lisbon scored a 45 yard touchdown and also scored for the two point conversion to make it 35-7. Then, Dunlap found Carr for an 82 yard touchdown pass to make the score 42-7. That proved to be the final score of the game. Penn-Trafford plays conference rival Gateway in a game that could decide the champion of the 5A Big East Conference. Norwin plays at North Allegheny next week which will be another tough test for the Knights.
