Last night the Stebbins Indians due to a power outage had to play their homecoming game against Butler at the Aviators home stadium in Vsndailia. The bleachers on the Stebbins side were nearly 90% full while the home side might have had a handful over 300 fans. With a cold wind blowing all night neither team would manage much offense. I had Butler with 328 yards while the Indians gained 224. The two teams combined for two touchdowns and one field goal with several turnovers.

Lavell Lyles set the defensive tone early when he got to Kaiden Bates for a short loss. Then it was Butler’s turn to show some defensive skills with Tyler Pennington teamed up with Fred Rogers to stop the dangerous Rayvonn Harris-Belle for a short loss. Later in the opening quarter, Belle would pick off a Luke Seibert pass when the Aviators opted to go for it on fourth and five. On the Stebbins ensuing drive, Rogers teamed up with Tyler Ellis to stop Andrian Norton for a loss of a yard. The last big defensive play of the quarter came with 1:17 remaining when Jake Wheelock got to Austin Fiohre for a loss of five.

The defense continued to rule in quarter number two with Wheelock taking center stage with a big hit on Bates causing another short loss. At the 10:39 mark facing a fourth and one Butler again decided to go for it. The result was a fumble but the Aviators Jacob Austin pounced on the ball but he was short of the mark needed for the first down. Cayden Borchers would stop Norton on the ensuing Indians drive for a loss of a yard. After getting the ball back Butler would get a nice 13-yard from Damarquis Oliver but the Indians ended any hopes Butler had of continuing the drive when Bell made a nice pick. In the last 1:03 of the half, there were one nice defensive plays along with two nice offensive play. Butler would get a 24-yard pass with Jayson Morten making the catch while falling to the turf. They also got a 24-yard pass with Seibert finding Allen Mabson II. Tyler Pennington would recover a stebbins fumble to give us the last of the three plays.

The Indians defense would get the PAFOOTBALLNEWS hit of the game when Belle laid a Randy White type of hit on Trayven Crump after a catch that netted minus one yard. The next big type play came with 1:42 left in the third quarter and the was a sweet successful fake punt by the Indians with Norton picking up the first down with a swoft 12-yard run. Another fumble by the Indians would be the last big play of the quarter. Norton would cough up the ball after being hit by Cohen Hale finding the ball after it was knocked loose was Kwame Wheaton.

With 9:16 left in the game Norton would cough up the ball and making the recover for Butler was Devin Grewe. Seibert would drop back to throw the ball in the direction of Bates who not only made the catch but went 35-yards for the games first score. Coming in to hit the point after kick was Freshman Griffyn Bradley to give us a 7-0 score with 8:33 left in the game.

The Indians would be quick to tie this one up with Norton finding himself in the end zone on a 13-yard run. Clyde Mason locked things up at seven, with 5:05 remaining in the defensve showwdown aided by all of the turnovers. The biggest tunrover came with 0:49 seconds left with Norton throwing a interception making the pick was Tyler Rosengarten. fifteen seconds my favorite play, the hook and ladder was called by Butler with Bates taking the pitch and picking up 31-yards. With 0.06 seconds left after a Stebbins Penalty Grewe came in and calmly nailed the game winnng field goal from 22-yards out.
