Last night I made my first ever trip to

, Ohio to catch the Pilots (4-0) crush their opponent from West Virginia the Magnolia Blue Eagles (0-3) by the score of 49-6. River built a 34-0 lead after one-quarter of play. Junior quarterback Kabel Isaly would complete all ten of his passes on the night for a total of four touchdowns. Ty Long had the first touchdown reception from two yards out. River Thompson hauled in the next score from six yards out after a muffed punt on a bad snap gave River the ball at the Blue Eagles five-yard line. Before the bad snap, the River defense got a nice play from Cooper Cordery when he was able to take down Matthew Anderson for a loss of two yards.

Max Castro stopped a Blue Eagles fake punt in their own territory to put the home team’s offensive unit back on the field. Senior Brody Lollathin made the next touchdown catch from twelve yards out, the score was set up by a thirteen-yard grab from Long.  Max Castro was true on his point after kick to make this a 21-0 game.

Lollathin found paydirt a second time when he fielded a punt and glided fifty-three yards for the score making this a 28-0 game, with 3:21 left in the opening quarter. I can’t say rather or not the kid is fast but he made the special team unit of Magnolia look like they were in slow motion.

A bad snap allowed Maddox Mozena to get to the blue Eagles ball carrier for a five-yard loss and then after another bad snap Brayden Strawn recovered a fumble at the Blue Eagles seven. Peyton Blue would lead Kaden Johnson into the endzone to make this a 34-0 game. Bad snaps were a troublesome beast for the visitors in this one and time after time they paid a price for it.

The fourth and final touchdown catch came from Finn Bowers, who caught a short swing pass and then raced fifty-two yards to pay dirt making the defense look like they were stuck in the mud on a rainy night. Derek Smith would record a fumble recovery for the winners with 8:00 minutes left in the half. There would be no more scoring in the half mainly due to River running a wishbone offense with their JV squad in the game.

Brayden Vargo would be sacked for a loss of fifteen by Smith after another bad snap. The Blue Eagles defense would make the last big play of the half when Anderson and Gage stop for a seven-yard loss at the 2:00 mark. River using their second unit on both sides of the ball was still able to control the game on the defensive side of things as they kept the Blue Eagles offense from doing any damage.

The final half was played with 8:00-minute quarters with the clock running. Each team scored one. For River Lucas Dennis went fifty-six yards for the score and for the Blue Eagles they scored their first points of the season when Anderson went to his left for a five-yard touchdown on the last play of the game.
