On Friday night in central North Dakota, the Velva Aggies, formally, the Velva/Garrison/Drake-Anamoose co-op, hosted their season finale at Larry Sandy Field against the Ray/Powers Lake Outlaws.

The game started with fireworks. Treyson Iglehart would score on a 17 yard pass play on 4th and goal. While Hank Bodine would punch in the conversion attempt. On their first play after stopping Velva, Ray/Powers Lake’s Cody Rice would go the distance on an 89 yard run. Cutting the score to 8-7.

However, Velva would answer with a 49 yard touchdown pass on their first play of the next possession. A pass to Reggie Bruner from QB Ben Schepp. Schepp woould run in the two point try as well. Just 2:45 into the game, and Velva had a 16-7 lead.

Late in the quarter, Schepp would find Treyson Iglehart on the left flank who would take the pass the 29 yards for six. While Schepp would connect with Kyle Volson for two. After a turnover by the Outlaws, Velva would score on a 19 yard pass play on their first play from Schepp to Volson. Bodine would carry the conversion attempt into the endzone. Velva would lead, 32-7 after just twelve minutes.

In the second quarter, Bodine would go 40 yards for a score. Though the two point try would come up empty. Bruner would add his second of the day, on a 9 yard reception. Again, the two point try would be fruitless. And capping the scoring for the night, Volson would corral a 14 yard pass down the middle for the touchdown. A run by Bradyn Bossert would finish the scoring with the two-point try. Velva would lead 52-7 at the break.

A running clock would eat away the remaining 24 minutes of the contest without a score. Velva/Garrison/Drake-Anamoose 52, Ray/Powers Lake 7
