Slippery Rock beats Gannon 40-14

Slippery Rock: Slippery Rock improved to 6-1 on the season, and 3-1 PASAC play up a 40-14 win over Gannon Saturday afternoon. 

Noah Grover threw a pair of touchdowns for Slippery Rock.

The Rock pitched a first-half shutout, then built a 24-0 lead early in the second half and never looked back.

D.J. Opsatnik’s 20-yard field goal gave the Rock a 3-0 lead after a quarter.

The game’s first touchdown came on Bryce Proffit’s 21-yard reception from Noah Grover.

 

Isaiah Edwards then capped a 9-play 66-yard drive with a 1-yard run with 1:45 to play in the first half.

Slippery Rock then started the second half with a bang as Chris D’Or broke free for a 61-yard touchdown on the first play of the second half.

 

D’Or rushed for a game-high 105 yards on 14 carries. 

Gannon scored their first touchdown on Branse Stanley’s 22-yard pass from Kory Curtis. 

Curtis was then called for intentional grounding giving the Rock a 26-7 lead. 

On the ensuing drive, Max Maciejewski caught a 20-yard touchdown from Grover.

Noah Grover finished the game going 18-of-29 passes for 202 yards and two touchdowns.

Tim Smith scored a 7-yard run following a 15-play 60-yard drive that gave Slippery Rock a 40-7 lead with 9:37 to play.

Gannon then closed the scoring then KeJohn Batiste hauled in a 10-yard pass from Curtis.

 

Kory Curtis threw for 305 yards on 23-of-40 passing with a pair of touchdowns and interceptions. 

Gannon was limited to negative nine yards rushing on the day. 

Slippery Rock will travel to California (PA) next Saturday while Gannon plays host to Mercyhurst.
