It’s a day that has been celebrated by college coaches, high school seniors, moms, dads, hs athletic departments and more.  Live streams from college locker rooms, high school gyms, auditoriums, hype videos announcements and more have been the tradition. No more hat dances. No more surprise announcements

The NCAA is changing the way high school players will sign in with college teams.  The NCAA Division I Council approved Wednesday to eliminate the National Letter of Intent program.

The changes come as the NCAA undergoes its most seismic changes to date. The House v. NCAA settlement will allow schools to pay their players more than $20 million per year, and that now means the NCAA has to rethink the way they define an amateur.

The next change will likely come to the recruiting calendar. College football’s early signing period was moved up this year from mid-December to the week before conference championship games. This year’s early signing day is slated for Wednesday, December 4. That’s the day before the PIAA State Title games begin.
