Nolen Pauling said his offensive line opened some holes and he just took advantage of that blocking. Take advantage he did as the junior Bulldog quarterback scored four touchdowns as he scurried about for over 140 yards to lead Jersey Shore past DuBois 28-14 last night at Mansell Stadium in DuBois.

A couple big names who contributed to The Shore’s win. #53 is Isaac Shirey and #1 is Nolen Pauling.
“Nolen is extremely valuable to our team. We didn’t throw the ball down the field as many times tonight, but we know he can run the ball and I anticipate he’ll play great the rest of the season,” stated the head coach of Jersey Shore, Tom Gravish.
The game was scoreless after the first quarter with Shore getting to the DuBois 25 on one drive and also turning the ball over on a fumble another time. The fumble was recovered by Brady Glass of DuBois.
DuBois began a drive in Jersey Shore territory but a sack of the DuBois QB pushed the ball back across the fifty. In fact, DuBois had run 14 plays in the first quarter and netted zero yardage as the Bulldogs sacked the quarterback, Seth Wilmoth, three times. Overall, Jersey Shore’s defense sacked Wilmoth six times for the game.

#81 in white of Jersey Shore, Aiden Patts, makes a flting leap sack of DuBois QB #11, Seth Wilmoth. #53 in white is Isaac Shirey. DuBois linemen are left to right: #57 Adam Drahushak, #50 Parker Billock, #75 Ethan Buck, and #55 Zoan Thomas.
Coach Gravish praised his defense and said it was the best pressure they had all year against a quality group of linemen that DuBois has. “Making that quarterback move a little bit and move his eyes a little bit, you get a chance for an incomplete pass.” It also gives the pressuring team a chance to pick off a pass here or there and Jersey Shore could check that box too as Khani McCray intercepted two DuBois passes.
Jersey Shore drew first blood on a Pauling 7-yard run early in the second. DuBois then embarked on their best possession of the half traveling 59 yards on just six plays to even things when London Duncan scored on a 9-yard jaunt. That touchdown tied the game at 7. Duncan finished with 101 yards rushing on the evening.

However, the Bulldogs came right back with a sustained four minute drive to retake the lead. On the tenth play of the 71-yard drive, Pauling scored on another 7-yard run. They took that 14-7 lead into the intermission but not before Shore’s defense forced a three and out, and the offense drove to the Beaver 24 before turning the ball over on downs.

#1 Nolen Pauling takes off around the far side end on one of his two 7-yard TD runs.
No one could muster a score in the third quarter either. DuBois did, however, methodically weave their way inside the Bulldog 30 before an interception spoiled the chance to tie the game.
With under 9 minutes to play, DuBois gambled on a third and 7 at the Jersey Shore 45. But the pass fell incomplete. Shore’s Pauling made them pay by taking the first snap of the possession and racing down the field for a 55-yard touchdown. That gave the Bulldogs some breathing room, leading 21-7.
DuBois whiffed again on their next possession by failing on fourth down at their own 48. And once again, Jersey Shore took advantage and put the game away. Pauling finished the four play drive with runs of 18 and then 23 yards to give him his four TDs and give his team a 28-7 lead.
A good kickoff return plus a penalty gave DuBois the ball at Jersey Shore’s 34. From there the Beavers went on to score their second touchdown on Duncan’s 1-yard plunge, which gave him two scores for the night and set the final at 28-14 in favor of Jersey Shore.
“We really looked forward to coming to this stadium,” said Coach Gravish. He said he’d told the kids of the history of DuBois football and the talent they’ve had over the years. “I’m really proud of our kids, we’re getting more healthy, and I like where our team is going,” was another thought by Coach Gravish.

Carter Rhinehart of Jersey Shore hauls in a pass from #1 Nolen Pauling in the background. Hayat Muhammad of DuBois is #8.
Isaac Shirey, the 6’3” 250 pound lineman for the Bulldogs, said it was a tough game but opening enough holes on offense and putting pressure on DuBois’s quarterback were keys to the win.
Jersey Shore outgained DuBois 463 yards to 193 yards. Pauling went 15 for 26 passing for 192 yards. His main receiver was Carter Rhinehart who grabbed 9 passes for 126 yards. Bulldog Zeke Sechrist ran for 120 yards to give them two 100-yard rushers for the contest.
Jersey Shore bumps their record to 4-3 while DuBois falls to 4-3. DuBois will host Baldwin (1-5) next Friday. Jersey Shore will travel to Hollidaysburg (4-2) for their game on Friday.
The DuBois Marching Band did a wonderful job playing some oldies at halftime. It was a very entertaining show.
