North East survives comeback attempt by Girard, wins 32-28 after weather delay (PHOTO GALLERY)

On Thursday night, Girard and North East had to wait out the weather before one closely contested game. Led by Ethan Ringer, North East jumped out to a 22-0 lead after one. Before Girard clawed their way back by halftime with three of their own touchdowns, to trail by point, 22-21. After trading touchdowns in the second half, both teams’ offenses stalled and Girard had finally stopped the Pickers deep in their territory and forced a punt. A disastrous muffed punt gave the ball back to North East. Letting them run down the clock further, and setup their second field goal attempt of the day. The latter being from 36 yards out, and good. Extending the lead to four. A 32-28 was enough, as a stout defense stopped Girard on their final drive.
