Northampton Konkrete Kids to face Delaware Valley Warriors in Home Opener

Fresh off their 35-6 win over Martin Luther King on the road, the Konkrete Kids return home to face a hungry Delaware Valley Warriors team that lost a heartbreaker, 21-20 on the road to Bethlehem Catholic. New Northampton starting QB junior Zion McKinney, replacing longtime starter Gavin Taff, completed 2 of 3 passes for 27 yards, while also adding 29 yards on the ground. The K-Kids also received major contributions from their junior running back, Chase Kessler, who ran for 210 yards and 2 TDs. They also got a 3 yard TD run from senior RB, Trevor Messer. Defensively, the K-Kids got an 100 yard pick 6 from junior DB Colby Brearman. It was a complete game from Northampton as they look to carry that momentum into week 2.

On the other side, Delaware Valley is looking to patch up a defense that was shredded to the tune of 279 passing yards and 2 TDs on 16 completions from Bethlehem Catholic Golden Hawks senior QB Axel Burkart. Offensively, the Warriors had a solid game, with senior RB Devin Estevez rushing for 121 yards and a TD. Senior QB Lucas Petersheim completed 7 passes for 96 yards, with senior WR James Dabney catching 3 of them for 22 yards. While the game was a loss for the Warriors, they showed they can go toe-to-toe with an expected contender like Bethlehem Catholic on the road and could pose a threat to the Konkrete Kids defense, especially if Devin Estevez has another strong game on the ground.

Prediction: Both of these teams look evenly matched on paper, have starting QBs that are new to their respective teams, and have star running back power in Chase Kessler and Devin Estevez. However, I think home field advantage will make the difference in this one because the Konkrete Kids will feast off the energy from their home crowd and Kessler outruns Estevez on the other side. I got the Konkrete Kids in a close one 24-20, with a late Kessler TD to seal it for them.
