Offensive Line Paves Way for Plymouth Whitemarsh in Victory Over Kennett

WILMINGTON DE: They are often the unsung heroes of any team, but they can make or break an offense. The they is the offensive line on Saturday night Brody Amplo, Jack Jingoli, Chris Robinson, Maxwell Montemayor and Liam Ward showed what a good offensive line can do for a team paving the way for the Plymouth Whitemarsh Offense to amass 443 total yards of offense and 55 points as the Colonials outslugged the Kennett Blue Demons 55-28 in a game that saw the teams combine for over 800 yards of offense. The game was the final game of the three-day Mid-Atlantic Pigskin Classic held at Salesianum’s Abbesinio Stadium.

“They are the engine that runs us,” Colonials Head Coach Dan Chang said of his offensive line, adding that “I couldn’t be prouder of the way these guys battled; our O-Line is getting better and better, and that makes us better.”

One of the leaders of the line was Jack Jingoli, who said, “Our O-Line is a group, such an underrated talent I feel we have a great group, and it just shows. We have great coaching; we get coached well every week.” He added, “We have a great system, great coaches; that’s what we get.”

The two biggest beneficiaries of the O-Line’s play Saturday were QB Cole Reilly, who passed for 141 yards and three touchdowns, two of which were to Max Peterson and the third one was to Aiden Orensky, while Michael Giangiulio rushed for 148 yards on 12 carries and three touchdowns. After both games, both Reilly and Giangiulio both gave love to their O-Line. Reilly said, “I put so much faith in them; they worked so hard all week. Everything we backs do, we give it all to them. We are nothing without them.

Giangiulio echoed Reilly’s sentiments, saying, “Without them, we don’t have those explosive plays; we don’t have any plays. The guys upfront do everything; all props to them.

It was the Blue Demons offense that drew first blood on their opening possession when Gavin Ritch hauled in a Garrett McCracken screen pass and raced down the Kennett sideline for the 23-yard score.

The Colonials responded on the ensuing drive, going 66 yards in five plays, including a 30-yard run by Giangiulio that brought the Colonials up to Blue Demon 33 three plays later; Reilly connected with Orensky on a screen pass for a 32-yard touchdown, tying the game up at 7 with 3:10 left in the first quarter.


The next three Colonials possessions all ended in the end zone.

Giangiulio went up the gut of the Blue Demons defense for a 72-yard touchdown that gave the Colonials the 14-7 lead with 7:46 left in the second quarter.

Reilly-Paterson connected for their first touchdown of the day on the next Colonial drive; the 10-yard strike made it 21-7 with 3:38 remaining in the second quarter.

The Blue Demons responded on their next drive when McCracken connected with Hunter Taylor in the flat going untouched for the 60-yard touchdown. The extra point was no good, making it 21-13.

Taking advantage of a 45-yard kickoff return by Jaiden James, the Colonials needed just one play to extend their lead to 28-13 when Reilly kept the ball off a play fake and was off to the races for a 45-yard touchdown.

On the Colonials’ first play of the second half, Reilly connected with Peterson for 35 yards that put them at Blue Demon 13. Three plays, Giangiulio bulldozed his way in from three outs, and the Colonials opened a 35-13 lead.

However, the Blue Demons were going down without a fight, responding on their next drive with McCracken connecting with Taylor again this time for a 36-yard touchdown. McCracken-Taylor connected again for the two-point conversion, making it 35-21.

Following a 53-yard kickoff return by Orensky, the Colonials got the ball on the Blue Demon 36. They needed four plays for Giangiulio to find the end zone again this time from five yards out, making it 42-21.

With 18 seconds left in the third quarter, Reilly connected with Peterson for a 43-yard touchdown, extending the Colonials’ lead to 49-21.

The Blue Demons cut the lead back down to 21 when McCracken connected with Croix Kise on a fourth down for the nine-yard touchdown.

Orensky capped the scoring for the Colonials with a 17-yard touchdown that made it 55-28.

Both teams now enter an even shorter week, with both teams playing this coming Thursday. The Colonials will look to improve to 3-0 when they host CB South, while the Blue Demons will travel to Norristown; both games will kick off at 7 pm.
