On Saturday night, Evan Kuhns led the way for the Vermilion Sailors in their 60-22 victory over the host Willard Crimson Flashes. Kuhns found the endzone four times in the first half. Opening the game’s scoring with a 47 yard run. After Micah Smith returned a Willard fumble for six, Kuhn added another first quarter score.
For Willard, Paxton Flores was on the receiving end of a 78 yard touchdown pass from QB Jake Rothhaar to cut the lead to 21-8. Jake Rothhaar added two more scores on the ground with his feet. In the second quarter from 1 yard out. While Kuhns added two more scores for from 45 and 25 yards out. The Sailors’ Zack Werth added a 52 yard rushing touchdown, while Brock Meyers was on the receiving end of a 60 yard touchdown pass from Drake Hooks, to give Vermilion a 48-14 lead at the break.
With the running clock going to start the third quarter, Isaac Kyser added a Sailor touchdown from 14 yards. In the fourth, Freshman Landon Mooney added another score for Vermilion, on a 5 yard run.
For Willard, Jake Rathaar closed out their scoring with his second rushing touchdown from 30 yards out.
