Penn Manor Dominate All Three Phases In 31-7, Victory Over J.P McCaskey

A highly anticipated matchup year in, year out is between the Penn Manor Comets and J.P McCaskey Red Tornado. This one was hosted in Millersville, Pa; the home of the Comets. Penn Manor’s defensive prowess led them to a 31-7 victory this weekend.
Opening up this one was a series of punts to start this battle. In Penn Manor’s second possession, a pure textbook drive was displayed with help from McCaskey flags. Jalen Dupree and several McCaskey encroachments gave the Comets the lead early. From 8 yards out, the senior rushed in for a 7-0 lead with 0:26 seconds left in the first.

With about 4 minutes left in the half, McCaskey seemed to have put together their only productive drive thus far. Being led by Sophomore quarterback Marlon Valentin, this drive was also halted by him fumbling on the 44-yd line. The Penn Manor Comets gave it to their hot hand, once more. Jalen Dupree with 0:46 seconds remaining in the half, cashed in once more for a 14-0 lead. A barrage of McCaskey penalties put them in this hole up to this point.

Out of the half, the downpour continued for the Red Tornado as Wesley Ray fumbled the second half kickoff. Despite a loss in this scenario, they gained a win, holding the Comets to a field goal making this game 17-0. The Red Tornado immediately responded despite a couple obstacles in this drive, Marlon Valentin delivered a strike down the seam to his senior wideout, Haneef Porter to shrink the deficit to 10 at 17-7.
A series of sacks on both ends brought the 4th quarter. Starting the 4th, McCaskey found them in a 2nd & 16 near midfield, where Haneef Porter managed to cough up the football. Senior Penn Manor quarterback Connor Smeigh hit his underclassman Elijah Valentin for a 29-yd touchdown pass. This one was now 24-7 at about the start of the 4th.
Momentum was taken from the J.P McCaskey sideline, soon forcing a punt that was blocked by Christian Herman. Herman recorded multiple sacks, a fumble forced, and a punt block. Being in the redzone, Jalen Dupree walked in the endzone for his 3rd touchdown of the night. At this point, this one was salted away by a score of 31-7.

Penn Manor look toward continuing their momentum up against Hempfield beginning a mini homestand, while the J.P McCaskey Red Tornado welcome Reading for a home game, debuting their newly renovated stadium.
