What does your offense need to do to improve from last year?
Two Points: Be more consistent. Last year, we had good moments, but we didn’t execute most of the time. Mental toughness is needed to execute an offense, and we need more of that. Trust the plan. This is the third Offensive Coordinator in 3 years, and Coach Brown is doing a great job. We see more buy-in then we got last year from the guys, but last year was tough for our offense. If these guys have confidence and trust, we will be good.
What does your defense need to do to improve from last year?
It would be tough to improve from last year’s defense. They were solid across the board. Two areas to improve would be shutting down 4th quarter drives. Getting off the field in the 4th quarter was an issue, and maybe the only problem I can think of. Having a killer instinct to shut down an opponent in the 4th quarter is vital this year. We are replacing some big names in our LB core from a year ago, that will be an area that we are watching. I like the guys that are stepping in, but they don’t have a lot of varsity experience.
