-Last Thursday (5/9/24) the Second Annual BuxMont College Showcase was held at Souderton Area High School where 105 Student-athletes from Souderton, Pennridge, Quakertown, North Penn, Plymouth-Whitemarsh, Cheltenham, & Downingtown East showcased their talents. Over 50 coaches from 30 different colleges and universities were on hand to see and evaluate the players. At the same time, they performed in individual position drills, OL/DL 1-on-1 competition, & concluded the evening with a 7v7 competition. While some of you may be new to the showcase scene, it is becoming increasingly popular. Last year there were 51 student-athletes from 4 schools in attendance. If this year’s total indicates what’s to come this event will draw a big crowd in the upcoming years. Founder and Showcase organizer Paul Fargo was happy to see such a big turnout in year two. The consensus is that the event was a huge success in the eyes of all the coaches. Souderton Head Coach Ed Gallagher is excited about the prospects of a larger event possibly growing to 10-12 schools. He also mentioned the idea of other schools catching on and creating an event like theirs to get more eyes on the kids. When college coaches go on the recruiting trail, showcases like this help to cut down on travel costs for the colleges and universities and give the coaches another opportunity to meet and see the students without causing too much of a distraction during school hours.
