The Lincoln Railsplitters entered Friday contest looking to return to their second consecutive Public League championship game. In their way was neighborhood rival who had beaten Lincoln in every game played between 1996 and 2022. In 2023 Lincoln stormed past Northeast in the regular season and then topped them in the public league title game. Earlier this season after both teams struggled in the first quarter Lincoln came out strong and rolled pass the Vikings 40-6.
Friday afternoon many expected a closer game however the senior leaders for the Railsplitters had other plans. Syracuse bound WR Zyyion Bredell scored twice while Joseph Gonzalez scored 4 touchdowns on receptions as Lincoln stifled the Vikings to advance to the championship game once again. Former Northeast QB Mahir Jordan continued his late season dominance throwing 6 touchdown passes in the victory. Defensively the Railsplitters held Northeast scoreless and dominated from start to finish.
Lincoln will now await the winner of Saturdays contest between Imhotep and George Washington High. Northeast will now prepare for its annual Thanksgiving Day traditional game with Central High School.
