Highly touted Williamsport Millionaires lived up to all the pre-season hype on Friday night by beating a good Crestwood team 33-13 at Comet Stadium in Mountaintop. It was a case where good met great. The gusty Comets just couldn’t handle the speed and skill of a highly refine 6A team.
Crestwood got the opening kickoff at their own 23-yard line. They looked sharp in the opening plays and quickly got the first down on their own 40-yard line, but their offense stalled, and they had to punt. The Millionaires got the punt on their own 11-yard line and could not generate any offense and found themselves punting after three downs. Both teams could not produce any significant offense in the first 5 minutes, then a lighting delay was announced. The players had to leave the field for the mandatory half-hour.
When they returned, the Comets looked like they were struck by that lighting -as they were the first to hit pay dirt at 11:04 in the second quarter. Kaleb Benjamin scored on a 2-yard touchdown run, making it 7-0 Crestwood. The early score by the Comets gave encouragement to many who thought the Comets could hang with the Millionaires, and perhaps even upset the pre-season favorite. But it didn’t take long for Williamsport to put a damper on those dreams.

The Millionaires drove down the field in 3 minutes. The key play came on a 3rd and 11 when Frankie Morrone rolled out to the right and threw a bullet to Jamaire Harden, who made an incredible grab that would set up a 2-yard touchdown run by Nasir Hennigan. A bad snap allowed comets to keep the lead, as the extra point was no good, making it 7-6 comets with 8.08 left in the second quarter

In the 3rd quarter, the Millionaires’ speed and skill took over as they scored 2 more touchdowns. Harden struck again when Morrone found him open for an 87-yard touchdown, making the score 19-7 Williamsport. Two minutes in 3 seconds later, Nasir Hennigan’s 48-yard run would set up Kieth Freeman for a 5-yard touchdown, making it 26-7 Williamsport. The score that concluded the 3rd quarter

The fourth quarter was not much kinder to the Comets. They were able to mustard up a score when the tenacious Senior Ethan Shudak bullied his way to the end zone on an 8-yard run with 8.14 left in the 4th quarter making the score 26-13 Williamsport.

Any hopes of making this a close game were squelched by the Millionaires when Nasir Hennigans, after a brilliant Millionaires drive, ran in from the three-yard line, making it 33-13
