
California gets big lead early, defeats Carmichaels 44-8

In the first quarter, California started the game with the ball, and it took them a minute and twenty-eight seconds to reach the endzone, thanks to a 23-yard touchdown run by running back Malachi Peak. The two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful, but it didn’t take long for California to score another touchdown thanks to a 12-yard run by Lee Qualk on California’s next drive. Logan Hartley ran in the two-point conversion attempt to give California a 14-0 lead with 7:13 left to go in the first quarter.

After another quick defensive stop by California, the second quarter started with a 27-yard field goal by California to give them a 17-0 lead with 9:00 left to go in the second quarter. The offense continued to struggle on the next drive for Carmichaels, with the drive ending with a blocked punt by California. The punt was scooped up by Vincent Manzella, who ran it back to the endzone for California. Running back Lee Qualk ran it in for the two-point conversion to give California a 25-0 lead with 7:06 left of the second quarter. Carmichaels started with a pair of first downs on their next drive but was quickly halted by California defensive back Chase Shemamaky, who intercepted a deep pass by Carmichaels quarterback Canon Bupka. California ended their drive in the endzone thanks to a one-yard run by running back Lee Qualk. The extra point attempt was no good, but California held on to a 31-0 lead heading into halftime.
To start the third quarter, Carmichaels offense quickly punted the ball back to California when Lee Qualk ran the ball back into the endzone for the third time in the game. Qualk ran it in from the Carmichaels seven-yard line. The extra point was good to give California a 38-0 lead with 5:15 left to go in the third quarter.

California still did not go away, with Lee Qualk adding his fourth touchdown of the game halfway through the fourth quarter, running it in to give California a 44-0 lead with 6:42 left to go of the fourth quarter. Carmichaels finally found paydirt on their next drive, thanks to a 74-yard run by Carson Hillsman. The two-point conversion was successful to make it a 44-8 game with 5:29 left to go of the game. Carmichaels forced a fumble on California’s next drive, but the clock quickly waned down to zero to give California a 44-8 win over Carmichaels.
