PEN ARGYL- On a picture-perfect Saturday afternoon “Up on the Hill” at Alumni Stadium, which is in the midst of getting a face-lift itself, two teams, in desperate need of win, met and when the final whistle blew the Roughriders of Catasaugua came out on top 30-12 on homecoming day for the Green Knights of Pen Argyl.

It wasn’t a thing of beauty, but Catty got the job done behind the running of Anthonie Hunsicker, who picked up 120 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown. The score came on his team’s second possession from the Roughies 48 as he found some room off the left side, broke a tackle and outran the defenders down the sidelines for a 52 yard score for a 7-0 lead with Christian Frye connecting on the PAT at the 9:40 mark.

After Pen Argyl fumbled deep in their own territory, Catty took over in the red zone, but could only muster a 23 yard Christian Frye field goal to make it 10-0 late in the opening quarter.

The defense of Pen Argyl were on their heels with the strong rushing attack of Hunsicker and Jyzaiah Bonilla, quarterback Christian Frye then lofted a 36 yard pass to Ian Juica, who had got past the defender for a touchdown increasing the lead to 16-0 after missing the PAT midway through the second quarter.

The Green Knights finally got on the board right before halftime on a 4 yard run by Damian Tyminski to cut the lead to 16-7 when both teams hit the locker room. The score was set up on a 51 yard reception by Tyminski from Brad Rissmiller.

Jyzaiah Bonnila, who gained almost 85 yards on 15 touches found the end zone early in the final quarter on a four yard run to make it 23-6. Bonilla picked up 60 yards in the second playing more as Hunsicker had some knee pain that he has been dealing with since the opening game of the season.

The running game for Pen Argyl was null and void as they could only muster ten yards on 20 touches, had to rely on Rismillers arm to try to get back in the game. A nineteen yard pass to receiver Alex Moser who made an over-the-shoulder catch cut the lead to 23-12 as the try for two came up just short.

The Roughriders would add one more score after forcing an incomplete pass by Rissmiller in his own end on fourth down. Frye powered his way in from two yards out to make the final margin 30-12.

Catasaqua (2-3) will host Schuylkill Haven (1-4) Friday night. The Hurricanes dropped a 49-14 decsion to Palisades. Pen Argyl will host Division leading Minersville Saturday. The Miners are 4-1 and coming off a 41-21 win over Panther Valley Friday.
