Central Dragons Linebacker Lukas Black Commits to Shenandoah University

The Central Dragons have been very impressive in recent years by sending athletes to the next level across multiple sports. Lukas Black has continued to keep the athletic tradition alive as he just announced that he will be continuing his football career alive at Shenandoah University.
In his junior year, Black was a big contributor to the Dragons 2023 3A state quarterfinal run on defense. He made 102 tackles, 14.5 tackles for a loss, and 1.5 sacks. Then in his senior year, Black was given a big task to replace Hunter Smith, a four year starter at linebacker. He took on that role, became a captain, and was named an All Altoona Mirror First Team linebacker. He earned that by accounting for 156 total tackles, 19 tackles for a loss, three interceptions, and four pass breakups.
His monster senior year led him to an opportunity at the next level, which resulted in Black choosing Shenandoah to continue his career.
“Shenandoah felt like home,” Black stated. “I love the coaches, the team, and the culture down in Winchester is great. They love their football team.”
Black is looking forward to taking on this new challenge in his career. A true competitor he is and he will not waste any time at all as he looks to compete as soon as he arrives on campus next fall.
“I’m most excited about getting on campus and competing at the next level with the team,” Black says. “Also I’m excited to be able to get a degree and continue to play the game that I love.”
It will be very fun to continue to watch Black during his collegiate career. He is a true athlete as he has played a significant role with both the Dragons basketball and baseball teams. Let’s see what Black can accomplish down the road as this is a major accolade to add to his career.
