Last season the Central Dragons were in the same game up 14-0 in the second half when star quarterback Jeff Hoenstine ran the ball up the field. After the play it Hoenstine laid there and was in pain and ultimately faced a bad leg injury. One year later Hoenstine led the Dragons back to Mansion Park and led his team to back-to-back District Six Championships with a 42-7 victory over Penn Cambria.
“Obviously I had some weird feelings being back at first but I just had to go out and have fun”. Hoesntine commented about tonight’s game. Hoenstine led the Dragons offense, passing for 298 yards and four touchdowns while also having a rushing touchdown in the game.
The Dragons wasted no time scoring Friday night. On their first possession of the game on fourth and three, Hoenstine kept the ball ran to the left and scampered 46 yards for the score. Hunter Smith made the pat to give the Dragons an early 7-0 lead. On their following possession Hoenstine connected with Eli Lingenfelter for 41 yards down to the four-yard line. Lingenfelter finished the game with 105 yards receiving and two touchdowns. The very next play Parker Gregg bulldozed his way into the endzone. Smith missed the pat making the score 13-0 Dragons.

On the first play of the second quarter, Hoenstine flipped the ball to Smith and Smith took it around the outside for a six-yard touchdown. After a successful two-point conversion the score sat 21-0 Dragons. Later in the quarter, Hoenstine would connect with Gregg from 30 yards out to extend their lead to 28-0. Later in the quarter, Hoenstine would connect with Lingenfelter from 15 yards out. After a Smith pat, the score was 35-0 Dragons.

Hoenstine would connect with Lingenfelter for his fourth touchdowns pass of the night in the third quarter, this time from 23 yards out. This gave the Dragons a commanding 42-0 lead. Penn Cambria’s Zach Grove bulldozed his way into the endzone from 13 yards out to end the third quarter. Noah Noel nailed the pat making the score 42-7 which would be the final score of Friday night’s game.
After the game, Gregg commented on being back-to-back champions saying, “It feels pretty good but we are looking more forward to state playoffs.” and that is just where the Central Dragons are heading next week as they will take on the Bedford Bison in a regular-season rematch that saw Central win 41-27.
