With Jaden Shedlock out for the season with an injury, several players are required to step up if Crestwood is to make the District playoffs. The Comets had seven different players score touchdowns as Crestwood defeated Nanticoke in convincing fashion 55-0. “You feel for the kid as this is his second straight season-ending injury. Comets head coach Ryan Arcangeli said about his star quarterback’s injury. “As a team, we have players that were going to be there with Jaden and now they have to be a part of it without him. We’ll have good leadership. Our seniors will do that and we will get the ship in the direction it needs to go.”
Crestwood started with the ball and Giovanni Barna returned the kickoff to the 22 yard line. On the first play of the drive, Jacob Jeckell went 22 yards for a touchdown. It was a 7-0 Comet lead with 11:39 remaining in the first quarter.
Crestwood’s defense got a three and out and Kyle Draina blocked the punt and the Comets blocked the punt and returned it to the 18 yard line. Two plays later, Lincoln Bibla scores from 18 yards out for a 14-0 Crestwood lead with 8:34 left in the first quarter. Nanticoke got a great kick return from Chris Julian but the Trojans were unable to capitalize as they went four and out. First play of the Comet drive, Jack Rodgers went to Carter Kennedy for a 60 yard touchdown and a 21-0 Crestwood lead with 6:03 left in the first quarter.
The Comet defense chose to get involved in the scoring as Emmett Seyer recovered a fumble and returned it 38 yards for a 28-0 Crestwood lead with 4:39 remaining in the first quarter. After a Nanticoke three and out, the Comets went five play with Nate Walsh scoring from 22 yards out to make it 35-0 Crestwood with under a minute to play in the first quarter.
Lincoln Bibla returned a fumble 62 yards for a touchdown to make it 42-0 with 9:28 remaining in the second quarter. Matthew Bealla scored from 22 yards out to make it 49-0 with 5:49 left in the second quarter and that was the score at halftime. The second half turned into eight minute quarters with a running clock. The only scoring in the second half was a Dylan Gensil 12 yard touchdown run with 4:56 remaining in the game.
