DANVILLE – Through the first three weeks of the 2024 season, the two highlights for the Danville Ironmen have been Senior quarterback Madden Patrick, and Senior running back Bo Sheptock. That certainly didn’t change tonight as Danville (4-0) road a four touchdown performance from Bo Sheplock to a 54-8 win over Central Columbia (1-3).
After the Blue Jays turned it over on downs near midfield on their opening possession, the Ironmen wasted no time as Bo Sheplock ran 58 yards all the way to the end zone, putting Danville on top 7-0 five minutes into the first quarter. The two teams then exchanged drives that ended in failed fourth down conversions, followed up by a punt that pinned Danville at their own 10 yard line. This didnt stop the Danville offense however, as a just a few plays later Madden Patrick delivered a beautiful 69 yard touchdown pass to make the score 13-0.
Danville took their next drive all the way down to the Central Columbia 2 yard line at the end of the first quarter, where on the first play of the second quarter, Bo Sheptock took the handoff across the goal line for his second touchdown of the night, increasing Danville’s lead to 19-0. Another three and out for the Blue Jays offense led to a third touchdown run for Bo Sheptock, this time from 37 yards out, making the score 27-0 after the two point conversion.
Central Columbia’s offense couldn’t seem to get anything going in the first half. After their third failed fourth down conversion of the half, Danville drove right down the field once again on a beautifully executed drive led by quarterback Madden Patrick, as the 54 yard drive was capped off by a 9 yard scramble by Patrick, increasing the score to 33-0. Danville’s offense was able to cash in one more time before the half ended, as Bo Sheptock broke a couple tackles and rumbled 83 yards all the way to end zone for his fourth touchdown of the game as time expired in the half.
The second half of the game featured a running clock since the mercy rule was in play. With just over four minutes left in the third quarter Madden Patrick added a second touchdown pass to his night making the score 47-0. The Blue Jays would finally get on the scoreboard two minutes into the fourth quarter with a two yard run by quarterback Parker Day, plus a two point conversion making the score 47-8. Danville would add one more touchdown to their total, sealing the final score at 54-8.
Danville’s next contest is a road date against the Milton Black Panthers (2-2) while Central Columbia will also go on the road next week to face Southern Columbia (2-2)
