Summary
Farrell is looking for their third straight District X title, while Mercyhurst Prep will look to win their first crown since 2007. The two schools have district final history, with the Steelers defeating the Lakers 39-0 in the District 10 Class A final in 2010. Mercyhurst Prep averages 58.6 points per game and cruised to a 49-0 rout of Sharpsville last Saturday night. Paul Johnson accounted for four touchdowns as he scored on runs of 30, 32, and 51 yards while also tossing a 12-yard touchdown to Clay Wojtecki. Jeremy Ganska, Vinnie Feliciano, and Ja’son Ellman each had 1-yard touchdown runs for the Lakers. Mercyhurst Prep led 35-0 at halftime. Farrell, which had beat Sharpsville 62-6 on October 6th, knocked off Wilmington 36-7 in their semifinal contest. Julius Phillips caught two touchdown passes from Kabron Smith in the first half’s final minutes to erase a 7-6 second-quarter deficit. Juelz Johnson would add a 70-yard punt return, while Danny Odem hauled in a 44-yard touchdown pass from Smith.
