Mid-Season Synopsis
Region 1
State Rankings: Farrell 2A, Honorable Mention, Wilmington 1A, #7.
Region 1 Contenders
2A – Farrell – Don’t let their 1-4 record fool you; Farrell will be a contender come to the playoffs. Farrell has battled Hickory and Sharon this season before falling 35-31 and 20-14, respectively. Both the Tigers and Hornets are state-ranked at 3A. The Steelers also fell to Ohio power Ursuline without their top player in running back Juelz Johnson, who has rushed for 600 yards and nine touchdowns in four games. Fort LeBoeuf also nipped the Steelers 29-28. Quarterback Aaron Pegues has thrown for 651 yards and six touchdowns.
2A – Sharpsville – The Blue Devils are off to a 4-1 start in 2024. After losing starting quarterback Caullin Summers to graduation, Sharpsville has turned to a ground-based attack, with Jaiden White rushing for a team-high 424 yards and five touchdowns. In comparison, Geno Currie scored five times and added 279 yards on the ground.
1A – Wilmington – Moving to Class A in 2024, the Greyhounds find themselves at 3-1 and ranked seventh in the state by PaFootballNews.com. Wilmington has four rushers with at least 148 yards. Jamie Miller leads the team with 220 yards and five touchdowns. Cael Kettering and Chase Mitcheltree have added 190 and 180 yards, respectively. Michael Mistretta has gained 148 yards with a touchdown. Wilmington will look to win their first District 10 title since 2020. The Greyhounds face a tough challenge this Friday night when they travel to Farrell.
1A Reynolds – After winning three consecutive district titles from 2020-22, Reynolds experienced a 4-7 campaign in 2023. The Raiders have bounced back in a big way in 2024 with a 4-1 record despite not having a senior on the roster. Reynolds will tested in the coming weeks as they have to play Cambridge Springs, Wilmington, and Farrell. Gabe Minjarez leads the Raiders with 667 yards and six touchdowns. Xavier Zachrich has rushed for 346 yards and passed for 383 yards and five touchdowns.
Region 2
State Rankings: Greenville 1A, Honorable Mention
Region 2 Contenders
Greenville 1A – Getting out of the brutal Region 3 the Trojans were in the past two seasons has paid dividends for Greenville. They went 3-17 in the last two seasons and have already surpassed that win total with a 4-1 start in 2024, including a victory over the reigning District 10 champions in Cambridge Springs. Dropping down a class to 1A this season makes Greenville one of the favorites in District 10. Greenville will try to win the school’s first district crown this century, their last coming in 1999. Nick Solderich has passed for 416 yards and rushed for 263, accounting for eight total touchdowns to lead the Trojans. Rudy Gentile has 342 rushing yards and five touchdowns.
Cambridge Springs 1A – The Defending district champions may have suffered a 17-0 loss to Greenville earlier this season. Still, the Blue Devils bring back plenty of firepower and can defend their crown. Brett Kania leads Cambridge Springs with 675 yards and three touchdowns, while Jordan Washington has rushed for a team-high ten scores and 360 yards. Brandon Hoover has rushed for 204 yards.

2A Mercyhurst Prep – After starting 0-2 against bigger schools in Sharon and Oil City, the Lakers have ripped off three consecutive victories and are in the driver’s seat to win the region following a 35-21 over Seneca on September 13th. Vinnie Feliciano leads the Lakers offense.
2A Seneca—Despite the setback against Mercyhurst Prep, Seneca is enjoying a 4-1 start and looks poised to return to the postseason after a 4-6 campaign in 2023. The Bobcat rushing attack leads the way with quarterback Rylan Harwood’s 625 yards and ten touchdowns. Freshman tailback Zach Moats has rushed for 482 yards and six scores.
Region 4
State Rankings: Sharon 3A, #4, Hickory 3A, #7
Region 4 Contenders
3A Sharon – The Tigers will look to win their first first District 10 title since they three-peated from 2017-2019. With one of the toughest schedules in the district, Sharon has been nearly perfect, with their only blemish being a loss to state-ranked 5A power Cathedral Prep. Their defense leads Sharon with all-state players Bryson Roberson and Brodie Miller. Offensively, the Tigers are led by quarterback Ethan Engelmore and running back Ike Friday. Engelmore has passed for 464 yards and six touchdowns, while Friday has 479 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
3A Hickory – The defending district champions are off to a brilliant start in 2024, at 4-1, with their only loss coming against Sharon. Hickory has also notched a victory against 6A Erie High—the Hornets, ranked 7th by PaFootballNews.com, will be strong contenders to repeat in 2024. Kelvin Morrison has rushed for a team-high 606 yards and eight touchdowns, while Zander Telesz passed for 556 yards and accounted for ten total touchdowns.
3A Titusville—2024 has been a special season thus far for the Titusville Rockets. They’re on pace to complete their first winning season since 2016, and tailback Jaxon Covell became the school’s all-time leading rusher. The ahead won’t be easy, as the Rockets must play both state-ranked Sharon and Hickory. The Hickory game is Thursday night and will covered by PaFootballNews.com. Covell leads Titusville as he has rushed for over 1000 yards on the season with 1003 and 14 touchdowns. Along with Covell, Ian McDonald has passed for 620 yards and seven touchdowns while adding two more on the ground. Kameron Mong has rushed for 155 yards and caught 13 passes for 220 yards and six total touchdowns.

Though they lost their opening contest against Meadville, Fort LeBoeuf put themselves on the map with a 29-28 victory over Farrell in week 2.

In what could be a preview of the District 10 final, the Bulldogs will travel to Edinboro for a Thursday night showdown against General McLane on October 10th. Region 7 Contenders
5A Cathedral Prep – The Ramblers are off to a 5-0 start. A win against McDowell on October 4th would clinch the region title. Tailback DeZarie Carson leads the ground game with 353 yards and five scores. Corey Allen has six receptions for 155 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
6A McDowell—The Trojans will enter the 2024 postseason as the six-time defending District 10 champions. To win it again, they’ll need to fend off Erie High. McDowell beat the Royal 28-24 earlier this season on September 12th. The Trojans are led by Blayze Myers, James Zigler Jr., and Stephon Porter.
6A Erie – Despite a 1-4 record, the Royals are looking to win their first District 10 title since 2017, when the program was established with the merger of Strong Vincent, East, and Central Tech high schools. The Royals are led by Paul Johnson, Tajhae Thomas, and Markel Pope.
