District 9 Review – Week 0

The top game of the week had DuBois beating Karns City 41-35 in a wild one.  Trey Wingard, the DuBois sophomore quarterback, threw for 324 yards and 4 touchdowns including the game winner with 4 minutes left.  One other major happening that affected the outcome of the game was late in the third quarter when Garret Nissel picked off a Karns City pass and went the length of the field, 95 yards to give the Beavers the lead.  Had the Gremlins made a touchdown, they would have gone up by two scores.

Top Quarterbacks for the Week:

  • Brayden Fox, Brockway threw for 239 yards.
  • Jase Ferguson, Central Clarion accounted for 339 yards by passing for 171 and rushing for 168 yards.
  • Colby Barr, Sheffield threw for 294 yards and 3 TDs (rushed for another).
  • Braylon Wagner, Redbank Valley threw for 273 yards and 4 TDs.
  • Will Domico, Clearfield threw for 203 yards.
  • Charlie Geci, Elk County Catholic tossed 3 TD passes.

Top Receivers for the Week:

  • Manning Splain, Otto-Eldred caught 8 passes for 145 yards.
  • Mason Clause, Redbank Valley caught 5 passes for 104 yards.
  • Blake Pisarcik, Brockway snared 7 passes for 145 yards.
  • Caleb Daugherty, Brockway grabbed 3 passes for 100 yards.
  • Carter Vos, DuBois caught 6 passes for 101 yards
  • Kaden Clark, DuBois grabbed 5 passes for 108 yards.
  • Dylan Harwick, Sheffield caught 5 passes for 130 yards.

Top Running Backs for the Week:

  • Hunter App, Otto-Eldred ran for 172 yards and 4 TDs.
  • Peyton Stiles, Port Allegany ran for 4 TDs.
  • Landon Martz, Punxsy ran for 169 yards and scored 3 TDs.
  • Matthew Davis, St. Marys ran for 225 yards, scoring 3 times.
  • Luke Cramer, Karns City rushed for 3 TDs.

Defense and Special Teams Touchdowns for the Week:

  • Cal Dunn, Coudersport had 3 sacks
  • Matthew Davis, St. Marys tackled 13 ball carriers and 4 were TFL
  • Brody Pentz, Bucktail had an 85-yard kickoff return TD.
  • Brentton McDowell, Redbank Valley had a 31-yard pick six.
  • Owen Deushlander, Coudersport ran an interception back 43 yards.
  • Jake Pete, Brookville ran a kickoff back 90 yards.

Other Notes:

  • Redbank Valley broke open a 7-7 tie with Smethport by scoring 50 points in the span of six and a half minutes of the second quarter.
