Wyomissing earns their fifth straight District championship Saturday afternoon.
WYOMISSING- For the second consecutive year, the Wyomissing Spartans faced the West Perry Mustangs with the District III 3A championship on the line and like last year the Spartans were raising the trophy on this picture-perfect Saturday afternoon at Bob Wolfrum field with a convincing 42-14 win to capture their fifth straight district title and to move on to the quarterfinals of the state playoffs next weekend at a site in Berks County. In last years’ game Wyo defeated the Mustangs 63-7.
West Perry took the opening possession and facing a fourth-and-three near midfield Marcus Quaker ran a fake punt and picked up twelve yards and an illegal substitution call against the Spartans moved the ball to the Wyo 41. However, an interception would kill the drive and the Spartans drove 72 yards on 12 plays, all via the run game and RB-Ryker Jones took it in for a score from four yards out and a 7-0 lead.
