Farrell Steelers

2023 Schedule

Head Coach – Anthony Pegues

2022 Season – 10-2

Key Players Lost – Zaire Thomas, Malachi Owens, Tahjmere Gibson, Jasean Boatwright, Kylon Wilson, Lamont Samuels, Anthony Jackson, Kien Wade, Malachi Shephard.

Key Players Returning – Marion Norris, Kabron Smith, Brandon Chambers, Julius Phillips.

What to Expect – Farrell will once again be eyeing a state championship birth with plenty of talent returning. The Steelers bring back quarterback Kabron Smith, who passed for nearly 2000 yards and 22 touchdowns as a junior. 1000-yard rusher Brandon Chambers and wide receiver Julius Phillips also return. Farrell will need to replace several All-Region 3 defenders from last season as well as Kylon Wilson who scored 30 total touchdowns including 17 rushing while adding 975 receiving yards with another ten scores. The Steelers will add Kennedy Catholic’s, Simeir Wade to an already talented backfield. Wade, accounted for nearly 2000 yards of total offense and 20 touchdowns for the Golden Eagles last season.

Greenville Trojans

2023 Schedule

Head Coach – Michael Menold

2022 Season – 2-8

Key Players Lost – Jase Herrick, Mason Dickens, Braydon Porter.

Key Players Returning -Tucker Musser, Logan Leskovac, Nick Solderich, Malachi Hyde

What to Expect – Under first-year head coach Michael Menold, Greenville will look to improve upon their 2-8 season from 2022. The Trojans return three All-Region 3 players, two offensive linemen, Logan Leskovac, and Tucker Musser. Top tailback Malachi Hyde returns after rushing for over 600 yards and six scores. Junior quarterback Nick Solderich will be under center leading the Trojans offense again in 2023 after throwing for 726 yards five touchdowns and nine interceptions last season.

Grove City Eagles

2023 Schedule 

Head Coach – Sam Mowrey

2022 Season – 9-4

Key Players Lost – Anthony Nemec, Dylan Ahern, Jacob Arnold, Nathan Boyd.

Key Players Returning – Hunter Hohman, Nathan Greer, Gavin Lutz, Joey Hathaway, Marcello Trezona, Delathian Boanes.

What to Expect – The two-time defending District X AAA champions bring plenty of talent back in search of a 3-peat. Quarterback Hunter Hohman returns to run the offense for a third season after accounting for nearly 2000 yards of offense and 22 touchdowns in 2022. Top receivers Gavin Lutz and Nathan Greer return having caught 88 passes for over 1300 yards and 13 touchdowns combined last season. Grove City will also enjoy the return of Joey Hathaway who missed the majority of 2022 with an injury. The Eagles will have to replace tailback Anthony Nemec, who rushed for nearly 800 yards and five touchdowns.

Hickory Hornets

2023 Schedule

Head Coach – Bill Dungee

2022 Season – 5-6

Key Players Lost – Ty Holland, Daymar Trawick, Peyton Lawrence, Nash Porada, Logan Woods.

Key Players Returning – Timmy Krivosh, Luke Nevil, Sean Kennedy, Keenan Scullin.

What to Expect – Hickory will look to improve off of a solid 2022 season that saw the Hornets advance to the district semifinals. Sean Kennedy, Luke Nevil, and Keenan Scullin will lead Hornets’ offense. Nevil and Scullin accounted for over 1100 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in 2022. Kennedy rushed for a team-high 306 yards, he also added 59 tackles and two sacks. Timmy Krivosh returns to Hornets’ defense after having a team-high 79 tackles last season. Hickory need to replace quarterback Logan Woods who passed for nearly 1700 yards and 18 total touchdowns.

Sharon Tigers

2023 Schedule 

Head Coach – Jason McElhaney

2022 Season – 6-5

Key Players Lost – Jayveerh White, Mikey Mazurek, Austin Perlik, Mikey Rodrigues.

Key Players Returning – Brodie Miller, Lamont Austin, Bryson Roberson, Ike Friday, Cortez Nixon.

What to Expect – Sharon will look to again be a threat in the district playoffs in 2023. The Tigers bring back their top two defenders Bryson Roberson and Cortez Nixon. Nixon and Roberson combined for 155 tackles and five sacks. Nixon also rushed for 300 yards and four touchdowns. Sharon will need to replace quarterback Mikey Rodriques who accounted for 1600 yards and 25 touchdowns along with top tailback Jayveerh White who rushed for over 1300 yards and seven scores.

Sharpsville Blue Devils

2023 Schedule

Head Coach – Paul Piccirilli

2022 Season – 9-3

Key Players Lost – Garen Levis, Blaze Campbell, Christian Snyder, Braedon Summers, Braden Scarvel.

Key Players Returning – Brian White, Kalvin McCullough.

What to Expect – Sharpsville will look to again battle for a district title – Caullin Summers will return to lead the Blue Devils’ offense in 2023 after accounting for 3000 yards and 34 touchdowns. Sharpsville will have to replace 1000-yard receiver, Garen Levis. Top defender Christian Snyder was also lost to graduation after recording 163 total tackles, four sacks, and an interception.

Slippery Rock Rockets

2023 Schedule

Head Coach – Larry Wendereusz

2022 Season – 7-5

Key Players Lost – John Sabo, William Mokel, Maddox Allen, Brody Galcik, Isaac Bell, Braiden Reich, Brett Galcik, Lucas Allison.

Key Players Returning – Blaise Mullen, Sam Schwartz, Sal Mineo.

What to Expect – Slippery Rock will need to replace eight All-Region 3 players to return to the district title for a third consecutive season. Offensively the Rockets will need to replace quarterback William Mokel who accounted for over 2500 yards of offense and 21 total touchdowns. Top tailback Maddox Allen and receiver John Sabo also graduated – Allen rushed for a team-high 1051 yards and 11 touchdowns while Sabo caught 47 passes for 633 yards and eight scores. Slippery Rock returns Sal Mineo and Sam Schwartz, Mineo, who rushed for 226 yards and three scores, and Schwartz who had 34 receptions for 414 yards and two touchdowns will be key pieces for the Rockets in 2023.

Wilmington Greyhounds

2023 Schedule 

Head Coach – Brandon Phillian

2022 Season – 3-7

Key Players Lost – Michel Chrastina, Ty Milliron, Tuff McConahy

Key Players Returning – Tyler Mikulin, Ben Miller, Rocky Serafino, Buddah Book,

What to Expect – Wilmington will almost certainly improve on the team’s 3-7 record from 2022. The Greyhounds return four All-Region 3 players from last season and lost only four players to graduation. Running backs Ben Miller and Tyler Mikulin combined to rush for 1100 yards and ten touchdowns in 2023. Wilmington will need to replace quarterback Tuff McConahy who transferred to Girard (OH) after throwing for 750 yards and eight touchdowns while leading receiver Buddah Book caught 23 passes for 318 and will look to again to be the top receiving threat in 2023.
