The Blue Mountain Eagles showed a powerful performance against the Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes in the final week of regular season play.
Quarterback Tyler Miller of Blue Mountain had four touchdowns in a dominating fashion.
This annual contest started with Blue Mountain deferring at the coin toss. After the Eagles received the ball and converted on 4th and 1, Payton Fasnacht ran long for the first touchdown of the night. This was the only scoring action of the quarter and the Eagles took the lead, 7-0.
The second quarter sparked Tyler Miller’s intensity. He was pushed in for the score at the one-yard line and that gave him momentum. Leyden Hertz of the Hurricanes was able to break up a potential scoring pass, but Miller stayed focused. He broke for a 41-yard touchdown later in the quarter. To close the first half, Payton Fasnacht scored his second touchdown of the night. The score at the half was 27-0, Eagles.
Miller and his Eagles team picked up right where they left off. Miller scored another touchdown from 7 yards out and Carson Kerstetter completed the two-point conversion. Niko Castillo of the Hurricanes broke up a pass in hopes of giving his team a surge of energy but to no avail. Miller scored his fourth and final touchdown of the night and was then replaced by Derek Walasavage for the fourth quarter. The score after three was a dominating Eagle lead, 42-0.
The last score of the game came from Lukas Kauffman. The extra point was blocked. Niko Carestia of the Hurricanes had a memorable defensive performance, bringing down multiple players with strong tackles. The final score of the annual Backyard Brawl was 48-0, Eagles.
