
Former Philly Area All-Stars Look Forward to Draft Weekend

The 2025 NFL Draft will take place Thursday night through Saturday evening. Over the course of those 3 days there are quite a fee players from Philadelphia and Delaware county who will hear their name called or sign contracts with teams after the draft concludes. Leading the way will be Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter who stared at La Salle College before making his way to state college. In his first season he played in 13 games, starting 6 at linebacker recording 56 tackles & 6.5 sacks. As a sophomore he notched 48 tackles, 4.5 sacks and an interception. Heading into the 2024 season he was moved down to defensive end where he shined racking up a career high in both tackles (68), tackles for loss (23.5) and sacks (12). Abdul is projected to go anywhere from 2nd to 5th in the first round.
Former Downingtown West QB Will Howard led the Buckeyes in his lone season in Columbus to the College Football National Title. Prior to Columbus he stared at Kansas State where he threw for 5786 yards & 48 touchdowns in 4 seasons. After transferring for his final year of eligibility he shined for Ohio State as the general throwing for 4010 yards & 35 touchdowns. Will is projected to be a Day 3 selection.
Syracuse QB Kyle McCord who is a SJ Prep graduate projects to be a Day 3 pick after a record-breaking senior season for the Orangemen. As a senior at Syracuse, he shattered the ACC single season record for passing yards with 4779 yards while adding 34 touchdown passes leading them to an 10-3 record. In his junior campaign starter at Ohio State, he led the Buckeyes to an 11-1 record throwing for 3,170 yards & 24 touchdowns.
Villanova DB Tyrell Mims is a Martin Luther King graduate who played both cornerback and safety during his 5 seasons with the Wildcats. In his tenure on the mainline he racked up over 100 tackles, 4 interceptions, and a sack. Tyrell is projected to possibly be a Day 3 pick or a priority undrafted free agent signee Saturday evening.
Indiana WR Ke-shawn Williams is a Springside Chestnut Hill Academy graduate who initially stared at Wake Forrest for 3 seasons. As a Demon Deacon Ke-Shawn compiled 107 receptions for 1385 yards & 5 touchdowns before transferring to Indiana for his final season of eligibility. As a Hooser he had 39 receptions, 448 yards & 5 touchdowns on the season.
Oregon DB Tysheem Johnson is a Neumann Goretti graduate who started at Ole Miss before finishing his final two years as a starter at Oregon. As a Duck he compiled 67 tackles and 5 interceptions over two seasons. Tysheem is projected a Day 2 selection.
Southern Illinois DB Ubayd Steed is a Northeast High graduate who initially enrolled at Towson University where he started for 2 seasons before transferring to SIU where as a junior he earned the MVFC newcomer of the year award. In two seasons at SIU, he compiled 196 tackles, 6 interceptions and 2 forced fumbles. Ubayd is projected to earn an UDFA contract Saturday evening upon conclusion of the NFL draft.
