After a 35-6 loss in the regular season against Fort Cherry, Cornell proved that they made adjustments for the postseason rematch.
Fort Cherry was forced to punt on their first three drives of the game. In that time, Cornell established a 12-0 lead, thanks to touchdowns from junior running back Khylil Johnson and senior running back Walter Clarit.
What came next were 27 unanswered points from Fort Cherry. Junior quarterback Matt Sieg ram for a touchdown to make it a five point game and then ran for another which gave Fort Cherry a 14-12 lead.
Fort Cherry was driving near the end of the first half, but Sieg was intercepted by senior Mikey Keyes.
On Fort Cherry’s possession of the second half, Sieg threw a 12-yard touchdown to senior wide receiver Shane Cornali. It was Cornali’s fourth touchdown this season against Cornell, as he had three in the regular season matchup.
One minute into the fourth quarter, Sieg scored his third rushing touchdown of the game from 21 yards out to make 27-12 in favor of Fort Cherry.
But, Cornell didn’t go away just yet. Junior quarterback M.J. Stuckey led his offense down the field and capped off the drive with a 19-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Santana Lee with 7:11 left in the game.
However, Fort Cherry possessed the ball for the remainder of the game and ran the clock out to earn the 27-20 win.
