Hurricanes Score 73 in Dominating Win Over Panthers

The Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes defeated the Panther Valley Panthers 73-8. The Hurricanes had seven different players reach the endzone. Matthew Spino had the Panthers’ only touchdown of the night.

The Hurricanes began their dominating night with three scores in the first quarter. Aiden Myers from 5 yards out, Niko Carestia with an 8-yard run, and Travis Richie scoring from a pass by Augustus Warke. Aidan Clauser blocked the game’s first punt, setting up Carestia’s score. The second quarter opened up with Carestia breaking free for a 50-yard run. Warke finished the drive with a 3-yard score. Leyden Hertz had the second touchdown of the night off of Warke’s pass, this time from 28 yards. Aiden Myers got involved with the scoring action again with a 40-yard run down the sideline for another Hurricane touchdown. The second quarter came to a close with Carestia scoring. Kicker Grayson Fessler was 7/7 on PATs. Hurricanes led 49-0 heading into the second half of play.

The third-quarter scoring started with Carestia’s third touchdown of the night. Freshman Colton Reber also had a huge score, running 60 yards to the endzone. Reber reached the endzone again, this time on a 45-yard run. The last Hurricane touchdown came from freshman Triston Davis. Panther Valley scored within the last few minutes remaining in the game, Spino keeping the ball and running 31 yards. A two-point conversion was completed as well by Frank Shubeck. Key defensive players who helped to stop the Panthers from converting, especially on 3rd or 4th and 1 were Aiden Myers, Aidan Clauser, Wyatt Keefer, Chase Williams, and Chase Leibensperger.

The Hurricanes look to keep their win streak alive as they face Pen Argyl on Saturday. Panther Valley will take on Catasauqua.
