Kotsko’s View of the WVC 2023 Week 5: Nap Time

The crazy thing is when you think “I’ll just shut my eyes for a few minutes” at about 10:30 at night, you just happen to wake up at 1:30 AM. Which is why this article was delayed to this time. Kotsko has been busy of late, to playing several sports (three to be exact), to TikToks, and writing several articles. So with all that being said, let’s get into these Week 5 games!!!

West Scranton at Hazleton Area

West Scranton lost to Dallas Saturday afternoon. Hazleton Area lost at home to Wilkes-Barre Area. Invaders running back Hunter Baumgardner has 259 yards and two touchdowns on the year. Cougars quarterback Austin Wilson threw for 438 yards and six touchdowns. He also has 225 yards and a touchdown. West Scranton is looking for their first win of the 2023 season. Hazleton Area is looking to break a three game losing streak.

Prediction: Hazleton Area 35 West Scranton 6

Pittston Area at Valley View

Pittston Area got the victory at Hanover Area. Valley View stayed undefeated with a win against North Pocono. Patriots quarterback Drew DeLucca is throwing for 493 yards and five touchdowns this season. Cougars running back Camryn Higgins is rushing for 440 yards and five touchdowns for the 2023 season. Pittston Area is looking to increase their winning streak to three and get above .500 for the first time in 2023. Valley View is looking to stay unbeaten as they hit the second half.

Prediction: Valley View 35 Pittston Area 6

Berwick at Wilkes-Barre Area

Berwick got their first win of the season at Williamsport. Wilkes-Barre Area got the victory over Hazleton Area. Bulldogs running back Tyler Winter has 422 yards and five touchdowns on the year. Wolf Pack quarterback Jake Howe has 637 passing yards and nine touchdowns in the 2023 season. Berwick is looking to turn their season around after their big win last week. Wilkes-Barre Area is looking to get on a roll as they hit the second half of the season.

Prediction: Wilkes-Barre Area 28 Berwick 21

Wyoming Area at Hanover Area

Wyoming Area got the victory at home over Nanticoke. Hanover Area lost to Pittston Area. Warriors running back Aaron Crossley is rushing for 597 yards and 11 touchdowns on the year. Hawkeyes running back Jayden Skipalis is rushing for 283 yards and five touchdowns on the season. Wyoming Area looks to close in on the WVC Division 2 title. Hanover Area is looking to snap a three game losing streak.

Prediction: Wyoming Area 35 Hanover Area 6

Tunkhannock at Honesdale

Tunkhannock got the win over Carbondale last week. Honesdale lost to Lackawanna Trail. Tigers running back Logan Ross has 619 yards and eight touchdowns in the 2023 season. Hornets quarterback Aiden Collins has 355 passing yards and two touchdowns. He also has two rushing touchdowns. The Tigers are on a three game winning streak and are hoping to increase it to four. Honesdale is opening up their revamped stadium and are hoping to christen it with a victory.

Prediction: Tunkhannock 28 Honesdale 21

Nanticoke at Lake-Lehman

Nanticoke is coming off a loss to Wyoming Area. Lake-Lehman is coming off a victory over Holy Redeemer. Trojans running back Treston Allen is rushing for 108 yards and three touchdowns on the year. Black Knights quarterback Hayden Evans is throwing for 378 yards and five touchdowns for the 2023 season. Nanticoke is looking to snap a three game losing streak. Lake-Lehman is looking to win their second straight game.

Prediction: Lake-Lehman 28 Nanticoke 27

Holy Redeemer at Milton

Holy Redeemer is coming off a loss to Lake-Lehman. Milton is coming off a victory over Mount Carmel. Royals receiver Kyaire McClean has five catches for 138 yards and two touchdowns last week. Black Panthers quarterback Cale Bastian threw a 55 yard touchdown pass and scored from two yards out in the victory last week. Holy Redeemer is looking for their first win of the season. Milton is looking to continue their winning ways.

Prediction: Milton 35 Holy Redeemer 7

Dallas at Valley West

Dallas is coming off a victory over West Scranton. Valley West lost at Crestwood last week. Mountaineers running back Dylan Geskey has 491 yards and four touchdowns on the season. Spartans running back Isaiah Cobb is rushing for 352 yards and four touchdowns for the 2023 season. Dallas is looking to stay undefeated. Valley West is looking to snap their three game losing streak.

Prediction: Dallas 35 Valley West 14

Crestwood at Williamsport

Crestwood is coming off their first win last week against Valley West. Williamsport is coming off a loss to Berwick. Comets quarterback Jaden Shedlock has 700 rushing yards with eight touchdowns this season. He has also thrown for 251 yards and two touchdowns. Millionaires wide receiver Yazhir Slaughter has 19 catches for 379 yards and four touchdowns on the year. The Comets are looking to get on a win streak after starting off 0-3. The Millionaires are looking to snap their two game losing streak

Prediction: Crestwood 28 Williamsport 14
